This is what i did just now. I attach the flyers to all S4 in that MSCP.

Long ago, I parked my bike at Blk 163A Yung Ping Rd MSCP. One morning, my box was broken into and my raincoat was stolen. My canvas was also cut open because I had placed a cable and lock to it. Luckily the lock on the box can still be used after some adjustment.

There was even 1 time when I saw another bike with its whole header and exhaust silencer stolen in this same MSCP. It's an RXZ I think, so very easy to remove.

The police can do nothing. Just about 60m away is the neighbourhood police post, but what can they do? And they close after 10pm.

bike parts theft seems to be on a thrive now..

Installation of alarms may be a good investment, cause our parts are definately worth more than an alarm...:cheeky:

I went back home from my friends wedding at 2315hrs yesterday (14/06/08) and park as per normal at my multi-storey carpark. Today at 1400hrs, I started the bike, mount on it and move off. When I was at the bottom of the ramp of the MSCP, I turn right and my bike seems to be a little off balance. I braked. But I woulndt response. I look down and my right front callipers was missing!

I rode back to up to where i parked and looked closer. Yes. Only the right callipers has been stolen. The left one remain untouched. Rear callipers still intact too.

I called the police.

Location: Yung An Road, Taman Jurong

I think that idiot brake calliper spoilt on the right one only, so he stole your right calliper loh:)

Or another posiblities, someone paid him to do this kind of dirty job.

Maybe what you said is right, by installing an alarm systems will reduced the motor parts theft percentage. Well, we can consider your idea.:cheeky:

I see.. yeah my neighbour also got more then 1 bike.. he say 1 for entertainment.. 1 for his dispatch work :thumb:

haiz gd thing abt mscp is can avoid rain/sun & most importantly >> bird shet !

but its risks r higher..

Mine also no open space....

imo it will be a great news for bikers if somehow can employ a blangah or wad to patrol neighbourhood mscp... i tink they will be interested to earn extra..

& with lesser theft reports/patrols in mscp to do...

i tink its reasonable to ask police to pay the mscp keepers.. hahaz

Ride your bike to Poey Huat Hardware (31 Kelantan Lane #01-20). Bring along an M10 spanner and remove 1 of the original bolt from your front brake caliper after parking your bike. Bring this bolt to Poey Huat and ask for a longer version by about 12mm (a little longer is okay, but not so nice looking). Also the new bolt must be FULL THREADED TYPE. Buy the stainless steel type with the accompanying flat and spring washers, as well as the nut. 2 sets of these cost me 80 cents the last time.

Next, bring your bike to the motordiam and get them installed, 1 set for each brake caliper. Front wheel must be removed for this job.

IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU RIDE OFF FROM POEY HUAT, REMEMBER TO RE-INSTALL THE BOLT THAT YOU HAVE REMOVED.

Just found some time to go poey huat. My screw uses a 14mm socket, but should be a M10 screw. 80 cents is not for stainless steel screw, it is the normal plated type. I bought 2 screws at $4.50 each stainless steel ones, and it does not come with any washers.

Just for the benefit of others looking for the screw.

Thanks for providing the thread with the picture. Mine's exactly the same, but with stainless steel bolts and nuts. I'm sure I had bought stainless steel bolts and nuts because today, I checked them out again and they are non-magnetic. The original ones are magnetic. Also, on my nut, there is the stamp "Y.T.S.", which is a dedicated Taiwanese manufacturer of stainless steel screws and bolts. Their website is : http://www.yts.com.tw/en/

Anyway, maybe I was charged the wrong price because I also think that for S$0.40 a set is too damned cheap.

Mine is from LPS (Lakshimi Precision Screws Limited). Was it very long ago when you bought the screws?

You are very lucky to get it at that price. When I check with them, they only have one type. no other options.

My bike is VerS, yours?

I bought my screws on 01 Mar 2008. My bike is Spec 3, bought new and coming to 1 year this month.

By the way, you will also need the nut for the bolt and preferably with a spring washer and a flat washer, so that the nut will not be loosen due to vibrations. Did you also buy these?

Alternatively, you can also apply some Blue colour (Serviceable) LOCTITE on the thread prior to tightening. BUT NEVER USE THE RED COLOUR LOCTITE, WHICH IS PERMANENT AND NON-SERVICEABLE.:faint:

Talking about securing our callipers,i got a question to ask.Im currently using a kind of special bolt to secure the callipers. The bolt head has got a kind of star shape depression with a protruding small piece of metal in the centre. The problem is the thread is worn n the bolts need to be replaced.Anyone using this kinda bolt too n know where to find the replacement??
