i think that's just bull **** lor. all long bikes have been parking in there without much problems. why the sudden move to ban? and even so, why can't they draw up bike lots and charge us for using the lots?

Alright. wrote in to west mall management already. awaiting their reply. watch this space.

Gd job bro for writing to the management. Anyway, the whole thing sucks man. Yeah they do have lots for bikes at the entrance/exit spiral slope on each levels but how often do u see them not full. Bikes are still parked almost everywhere along the sides. That tells u that there are too many bikes at vivo and they shud have more lots for bikers. The basement carpark is just plain rubbish for bikers to park. I dun remember seeing any bike lots at all. I hope something gd comes out for us bikers. Implementing this out so sudden is preposterous.

Cannot blame those narrow-minded Singaporeans. They think that all bikes are made from cheap metals and they all cost less than $5,000. They also think that if you wear t-shirt to work, you are not highly paid. Wait till they find out the price for a brand-new Ducati 1098S and when they see a guy wearing cheap t-shirt and patched jeans driving a sports car (they may think that this guy has no money even to take taxi if they don't see him with that sports car) ... really sad and frustrating that pple nowadays are so narrow-minded. They do not look at the whole picture. I come across these pple almost everyday. To think that they are so "highly-educated". I wonder where all their brains gone to ...

Blame it on our education system? Or the society? Whatever lah. Pretty sick of the pple in SG liao ... hard to find nice pple around.

Sad to say but I agree with ur sentiments coz I encountered many occasions that i was put off totally by what I heard. One girl in a group who was then working in town area(some banking job) blatantly shot in my face that she hates bikers, bikes and that she thinks that they're like low class. She even reiterated that she willonly go out with guys who drives. Bloody B*t*h..... I @#$% her off , her frens who share the same crazy opiinion and never did I want to see them again.

And believe me, there are many moreof these species......

ok guys. update.

>> Comments: Hi there,

I have noticed that the management has changed the parking scheme for motorcycles, which would take effect on 1st October 2008. I would like to suggest that the car park's management draw up lots in the car park for motorcycles instead of implementing a complete ban. We, motorcyclists, (I believe) have not caused any trouble or inconvenience by parking at the loading bay area located at B1 or along the walls at B2. I patronize your mall for many things such as running my small errands to watching midnight movies. This ban, if implemented, would bring about a great deal of inconvenience to many of your patrons. Please take my humble suggestion into consideration and I look forward to hearing the good news from you soon.

Thank you.

Reply from WestMall management as follows:

Hi Kenneth,

Thank you for your email of 30 Sept 2008. We regret to inform you that we are unable to accomodate your suggestion at this point of time. You may wish to note that motorcycle parking is available at the HDB multi-storey carpark located opposite West Mall.

Best regards,

Ganasan

Manager (Operations)

1 Bukit Batok Central Link#02-19 West Mall

Singapore 658713Tel: 6309 1160 / DID: 6309 1172

Fax: 6794 1461Email: [email protected]

The manager also called me to mention these few points not reflected in the email:

1) When the buliding was initially designed, they did not have the idea of drawing up bike lots. However, they are fine with motorcyclists using their carparks for free.

2) As mentioned by them, LTA has come down on them regarding carpark operations. Since there are no bike lots, bikes are not allowed to use the premises.

3) Eg. If Westmall submits application to LTA for 10 bike lots, then strictly only 10 bikes can be in the carpark at any one time. The 11th bike has to wait.

4) They are now looking to upgrade/renovate their carpark in order to accomodate for motorcyclists.

Thing i dont understand is..... Why does LTA have a stand in their management decisions? Isn't the car park under their DIRECT management?

these kind of B*****S mostly they don drive, if they do they wont mention tt they r only willing 2 go out wif guys who drive.or shld i say they r juz live on guys yet they think they r real BIG SHOT.:slapforehead:

as for banning bikes frm entering vivocity carpark, most probably is coz some bikers park their bike in btw cars, causing driver having a hard time getting in or out . + drivers keep complaining to e mangement tts why at lst they paste e sign of not allowing bikes parks in btw cars but no one cares so they implement this thing:cry:

Not true. Having worked at Suntec, there are lots - you just have to look hard to find them.

That's because developers are supposed to pay a development charge for the use of land. Building owners pay the DC based on the number of parking spaces they have planned. Thus to put more parking spaces that mandated, they have to pay to provide that parking space.

When they didn't pay the DC for the space, they have not paid the government for the use of it as a parking space (common areas don't count), and thus they can be viewed as scamming the government.

Now you know why many building owners don't draw parking spaces for bikes - because if they charge motorcyclists for parking, a lot of them prefer not to pay and park elsewhere. Then simply, if you don't want to pay, they'll just use the land for other more revenue productive uses.

Omg this sucks balls!!!!! I always go to vivo because of the free parking!

Anyway, anyone knows if after 3 hours I go out and come back in, do I also pay $1 for the next 3 hours?:lol:

the answer is Yes..

they detect your IU..

How sure are you, Jimmy, that Vivocity will implement that?

Last time Suntec's carpark also charged a cheaper rate every 3 hours for cars. My friend working there went down to drive the car in and out every 3 hours and saved car park charges doing that.

ya i know got lots. wat i mean is most bikes also park at space where theres no lots. :) so approximately equal to no lots. hehe.

cos currently vivocity is using the IU parking system, therefore, if u drive out and in again, they will charge u as though u've just reach there, unless, u tailgate one car when gg in and coming out... most probably will be free?

haa..

All strategy to make more $$$..... If give free parking for bike, where got meaning? If bikers park at Vivo, they collect money, if bikers park at pavement, government collect money, if bikers park at lot with no/expired coupon, government oso collect money. Win-win for them all... U, me, uncle rider, apek rider, aunty rider, pakcik rider, pai kah rider all lose.....:(
