There are 2 other ways.

1. If the leak isn't so bad, try those kind of liquid sealant for Radiator. Just pour into the radiator along with coolant... it will seal the hole up. If hole is too big, then this will not work

2. Cheaper to get the radiator repaired. You go ah boy and ask him for lobang. He helped me the last time.

Good luck

dun trust everything the motordiam says. they will try to recommend a very expensive solution so that they will make more money.

ask a few motordiams for more opinions. $400 is a lot of money.

where exactly is the leak? as hebe mentioned, it could be radiator cap spoilt. or it could be a leaking or loose radiator hose.

ask the mech to pump in fresh water and see for yourself that the radiator net is really leaking. and make sure he pumps in properly. if he anyhow pump, then water may accidentally spill out and cause u to think that there is a leakage. check for leaks in the whole cooling system.

if your mech refuses to do this, then time to get suspicious and change mech. or you can DIY.

he jus say radiator leaking so must change the whole thing

As they said.... Go ard few more motordiams and ask ard... Do u know where is the leakage? Did they specifically point to u where is the hole? If u wan a original radiator, that would cost a bomb... Alternatively, u can ask the motorshop to rebuild a similiar one at much lower cost.... Or get a second hand one or chiong one... However, dun go into that conclusion yet... It might be juz a small hole that can be sealed... or hose leakage which can be replace... Or radiator cap spoil nia...

must really find out where it leaks...

quite hard to find cos hole very small..

or u can follow the stain and trace to the hole..

then buy epoxy to seal the hole (1 yr le no problem)...

i have the same problem as u b4..

Find another mechanic to confirm.

Last time i face the problem and also cannot find where leak.

After a month, it became worse and saw that the pipe jointing leak.

Change the rubber pie can leh.

Mechanic also scare me say need to change radiator. Just be careful.

Some information.

Leakage occure only when u running the bike cause heat n pressure build up cause the coolant to force out from the hairline leak.

if the radiator cap in bad shape, this will also occur.

look for stain at where the leak might be...

ok, i've used the radiator sealent liao. when start can see a lot of it coming out, then it solwly dried up. no prob so far lah. i hope can last. maybe i kiasu a bit go buy the epoxy thingy u guys r saying. where to get ah? jus apply on the radiator itself rite?

if you have time, ride ard until it is piping hot... then showly observe your radiator for subtle signs of leakage...

Epoxy holds, but I think you can try to reenforce annually until you sell the bike...

Otherwise, URS Radiator at Ubi does a very good job of reconditioning of radiators... did mine at 120, through a bike shop cos when I went there, they quoted me 200++... :giddy:

Redname,

the sealant is not permanent.

When the radiator gets heated up, the hole will also expand and so the leak will increase too

Your radiator is already damaged. I suggest you either go source for a new radiator ( I wouldn't get a 2nd hand one) or go rebuild it.

ok, there's no leakage now from the radiator but there's coolant coming out below the engine. how? is it too much coolant so got coolant coming out? i notice there r 2 rubber tubes near my right footrest, seems tht these two rubber pipes r wet with coolant, so maybe its coming out form there. i can't detect the hole where is it coming out from leh. help me pls

Those pipes are overflow pipes... Coolant overflow from there is common if u top up ur reserve coolant tank to max.... Note: Top up to "max" level only. any excess will overflow out from the pipe... Hoppe this helps....
