Hello!

Ive got a DIY as follows:

Gigabyte EP35-DS3 Motherboard

Intel 3.0Ghz Pentium4 HT (r520 if i am not wrong. Or it could be 530. I forgot how to check which revision it is without opening the box)

2x 1GB Kingston DDR533 Valueram

Hitachi 250GB SATA2 HDD

BENQ DVD Rewriter

LG DVD Rewriter

All this wrapped up in a Cooler Master C534 casing.

Now the thing is, i think that my standard cooler is going to give way soon. I suppose i could find an aftermarket cooler... or i could add a little more money and get another, newer intel cpu that comes with a snazzy copper core. Looking at my PC again, there are other temptations like wanting to change to faster DDR800 rams, purchasing an LCD monitor to save space that my table desperately needs, and finally getting around to replacing my busted speakers.

I kept delaying stuff untill i realized that its been a few months since my speakers got busted. Procrastination is a really nasty habit that i have.

If you are in my shoes, what would you do?

Another thing. Does anyone know where i can find myself spare parts for my casing? parts like HDD slider mounts, 5" bevels, 2" bevels? My box of spares got misplaced during cleaning. I would like to add more hard drives without purchasing another case if i could.

While i am typing this, my cooler is screaming away. o_O

You should be able to add at least 3 more HDs on your SATA, and IDE, depending where your two DVD writers are connected.

It's damn irritating. Just buy and get that change, it wouldn't take you long.

whats the main usage of your desktop?

gaming?

surfing?

this will help to determine whether is there a need to upgrade yr cpu, mobo & rams.

if not, i suggest:

- new cooling fans

- new LCD monitor

- new HDD (nowdays they come in really big capacity. u probably wont need to fit in 2 to 3 new HDDs + even can consider removing yr current HDD from the system if they are serious limitations on the original number of SATA/PATA slots on yr mobo)

i think his main issue is the missing brackets for his casing.

well thats one of the more major irritations that i have. I don't suppose you have any spare brackets lying around? :D

What i use it for?

Web surfing, Downloading stuff, and watching videos.

I also use it as some kind of server of sorts. My little brother connects his xbox360 to the PC to grab hold of songs he can play, and i use it as a print server.

I also use it for some light gaming. the Nvidia 8600gt i popped in is plenty, though the current processor poses as a bottleneck, though i dont really mind that much.

How does a HD bracket look like ?

You should consider getting a low cost server such as the Dell Power Edge.

no.

why should i waste money when my current rig serves me well enough? another box would just drain more electricity, and bloat up my utilities bill. not to mention that it would be a waste of money.

i suppose i could open up my casing and take a shot of the one remaining bracket i have. pics will be up by tomorrow i think.
