Okay, it's been almost 2 weeks and 500kms since I changed my oil to Motul 7100 10W40 at FS.... the mysterious thing is when I checked my oil level today, it seems like the oil consumption has reduced dramatically!

Couls it be all along we have not been using the right viscosity oil for the Burg-er 400 and resulting in the oil loss?!? Or has anyone tried 10W40 oil before and still encountered the oil loss?!?

:giddy: :faint:

Okay, think in that case it's definitely a contributing factor... will continue to monitor for my bike anre report back. Tomolo it will be 2 weeks and 640km+.

Actually i felt that the Motul 7100 10W40 felt a bit smoother compared to Maxima 15W50 initially.

Thanks! As for the Vespa, it's not hard to maintain at all if it's already in a resonable condition.. I used to ride one, but my bro in-law took over it.. Kinda sad selling my Burg away, spent quite alot buying the replacement parts.. But still got lots of touch up to do, dun have the time for that now.. Asked a few bike shops, they only take in for 2k.. Hope ur friend wun complain too much abt the bike for 2.2k.. :p

as long the bike gt no big problem...if nt my friend will b screamin my head off...wahaha:angel:

An update on this:

It's been more than 3 weeks and around 1200 kms since I've changed oil. Checked the oil level today and it was still only slightly lower than half on the dipstick.

Decided to be kiasu and top-up (with Maxima 15W50) about 100ml. All in all I'm already quite happy, a big difference from previously when I have to top up around 150~200ml per week.

Think I will stick to Motul 7100 10W40 from now, and probably get a couple of bottles to standby topup in between oil changes. Gonna off-load my spare Maxima also...

Howdee

I'm a newbie here and currently looking for a used Burgman 400... taking C2 test next month so can't go for 650 model yet. Can PM me if you have one to let go

Previous bikes are Yamaha RXK & TZR125, Honda CB400 Custom & Suzuki Intruder 400 thus I'm totally new to scooters. Could someone please advise on the things I should look out for and also the differences in road handling, maintenance, etc. to keep myself & others safe on the road. These are the little I know... auto transmission, smaller wheels, no more chians & sprockets, and Burgman has lots of storage space

Thanks a Zillion

With that budget, you can only go for the Non-FI version, i.e K2 and below.

Otherwise, you might have to wait a while for ppl who want to sell urgently.

FYI, Terrible One just sold his K3 for 2.2K.

Hello all,

I just got a Burgman400 K6. I found the front brake very weak (right lever). Is it normal? Please advice as I really want to bring it back to the shop for them to fix it.

Posted

Depends on your definition of weak...

Anyway the right brake lever operates only one of the piston (top) of the front brake, the other pistion is linked with the right brake lever.

So when you brake with right lever you are not using the whole front brake. But even if I use the right only personally find it quite strong already.

William, cannot compare with yours lah...... braking disc plus hel hose..... how to compare with stock?

Of course, compare to superbikes its definitely less strong as like william said, uses only one of the 2 pistons. the left brake is stronger as it uses the other front piston as well as the back. Use both brakes together for best effect.

Bro, since your burg can 'chiak u', don't you think you should use Maxima 15w50, a thicker oil than Motul 10w40?.......how's the piaggio mp3 bug getting on you lately?

MP3 bug ah.... still trying to fight off the 'bug'! :cheeky: Think so long as my Burgman still surviving very hard to take the plunge lah...

Anyway regarding the oil, that's what I thought at first... one of the reasons I didn't experiment with 10W40 until recently... but guess the designers know what they are doing when they stated 10W40 as the recommended viscosity.

I think there is something wrong with mine. It feels like a drum brake rather than a disc one and plus it doesn't really slow the bike down much.

It may be air in the system. I will get it checked and oil replaced. The bike has 7000 KM and around 1h 6months.

beside EO...wat kinda oil we muz change n look out oso huh...im still new to 4 stroke leh...

:cheeky:

Burgman still got gear oil, it's inside the wheel hub at the clutch area. This is to lubricate the final drive shaft. Think only need to change every 10,000 ~ 15,000kms
