Actually I top up the 150ml EO after a KL trip at ard 2500km mileage. It always happens after a hard trip up north n traveling at avg 140km/h. ya it is a bit jia lat lah since my ex YP400 dun need to top up oil at all...

so far only the top up EO issue at my current mileage of 25000km. I tell u it is definitely more fun than my YP400 at cornering n trunk rd. but if u not planning to go for frequent trip up north or to Thailand, not really worth to get 650. Stick to the more economical wise 400cc scoot is more prudent.

hi hunks!

I recently got a 2000 burgman 400. im getting like 17km/litre and achieved a top of a mere 120km/hr.

is that normal?

This is definitely not normal. I was getting 26km/l on my old 400. Top was about 150km/h. Do bring your bike down to your fav shop for a check. Need my help, let me know here.

There are many kind souls here that'll lend a hand, too. :thumb:

im planning to go touring but every 200km i need to pump once. i dont think mine can go touring

Sort out the consumption issues and you'll have a tank range of at least 250km. Anyway, we normally top up every 150km or thereabouts when we head north.

Wonderful Motor should be a good choice. Just let Botak the mechanic know that you're recommended by Scarab(or 5133), he'll know what to do... If you need me to be around there when you go, can let me know too. At least I can tell you what you should take note about the bike, no need to refer to user manual... :cheeky:

Of you can go future scootering, I'm familiar with the people there, too. :thumb:

may i ask where can i get the bike's manual? online? download?

I have the K3 service manual soft copy... think its not really applicable to your model though.

Fellow 650 riders, I did an EO change today. EO drained from engine is ard 2200ml n 650ml from transmission. I have poured 2640ml + 150ml since last EO change n 360ml for transmission. It seems that the oil from engine has been transferred to the transmission. Do u guys have the same issue?

Hi friend.

Even if all the EO loss goes to the Tx, u still lose (2640 + 150 + 360) - (2200 + 650) = 300 ml oil since last change. As a good guide, EO loss should not be higher than 0.1% of petrol consumption (ratio of lubricating oil versus fuel oil consumption), if the engine is running at its opitimum rpm.

If you lose 300 ml EO every 4500 km (interval between EO change), in which u consume (4500/22) litres of petrol, u use 0.147 %, which is slightly higher than the guidelines.

In that it can be said that the engine is not performing at its optimum (I guess so since u travel at 160 km/hr during the KL trip).

Anyway, do keep us posted of the solution you have on this EO migration issue.

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

Wa i really like ur way of presenting the issues with equations, like the last time u tot me on deriving on the actual bike value. So far suggestion from burgmanusa.com was either to top up EO wen u c it below the low mark on EO sight glass or simply use dino oil n change every 3000km interval. I tink i will follow the 1st one...BTW they did mentioned tat this bike burn EO at speeds after 70miles/h.

Hi.

But will the engine oil low indicator (I pressume there is one in the high-tech burgman 650) light up when the EO level is near the lower mark? Or will it light up only when it is below the lower mark? It would be quite irritating right, if every here and then the engine oil level low indicator lights up.

BTW, I think the EO consmuption of ur bike is alright, only the EO migration upsets me quite a bit (because I should be a future burgman 650 owner). I mean, this scooter is not cheap and already give us this EO migration issue, not sure if any future more serious problems might arise.

BTW, do you change Tx oil when u change your EO. My concern is, with this EO migration issue, if u just change EO wo changing Tx oil, wouldn't the old Tx oil flows back to the engine crankcase and mix with the new EO, that will defeat the purpose of changing EO, right?

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"
