The bike to be sold is a 2B bike.

A bought the 2B bike as the first owner.

The 2B bike's number plate were retained from a 2A bike previously which also belonged to A.

B is A's sub-rider since the 2A bike's time, B is also a sub-rider of the 2B bike all these while.

Now B wants to buy a Class 2 bike with the 2B bike's number plate.

The 2B bike is to be sold to C.

The problem is the 2B bike belongs to A, so B cannot use its number plate (which belongs to A) to buy Class 2 bike with retained number plate.

A also does not have Class 2 license, how to buy Class 2 bike?

First possible solution:

A buy a Class 2 bike with the 2B bike's number plate (with B as sub-rider as usual) and sell the 2B bike with new number plate to C? But the problem is A does not have Class 2 license, how to buy Class 2 bike?

Second possible solution:

A transfer 2B bike's ownership to B. B retains the number plate to buy a Class 2 bike (but without any NCD because all the way, he did not own any bike). B sells the 2B bike to C (became 3rd owner, can transfer 2 times in a day?).

What is the best scenario considering NCD, bike transfer times, if A does not intend to ride the Class 2 bike at all. She only intend to buy a new Class 2 bike with the retained number plate. B will be the one riding the class 2 bike. Should the new bike be under A's or B's name? Really confuse now. Haha. Ride so many years first time stuck with such situation

A is wife, B is husband, C is just a buyer who wants to take over the 2B bike.

Option 1(Keeping number plate but no NCD)

First thing first, call LTA to ask if its possible to transfer ownership of the 2B bike twice on the same day.If yes, then you get to keep the number plate but no NCD.

If no, how long till the next transfer?

Considering that A will not be riding the Class 2 bike, the only feasible way is to register the Class 2 bike under B's name.

Option 2(Keeping number plate and NCD) Longer time

The problem you're facing now is you want NCD and the number plate. I dont think theres any way to go around this UNLESS A goes and take a Class 2 license. And purchase a Class 2 bike under her name. That way you'll get to retain the number plate, you'll also have NCD. But in doing so, you'll have to find a new buyer only when A gets a Class 2 license. (Doesn't matter if A is riding or not)

Just a two cents....

A can still buy a class 2 bike even if she has no license......she will be the owner and B will be the named rider who is the only one who can ride the bike.....the insurance will be based on B's age and years of riding experience....

Buy the class 2 bike...transfer the number plates between the 2b bike and the class 2 bike.....about this procedure I'm a bit vague coz I remember to transfer a plate from an old bike to an old bike costs 1k plus...also i never do this before... Hope someone can advice on this.

About NCD ...check with insurance company...you would have to pay the class 2 bike insurance with no ncd first.....most likely after you have sold off the 2b bike after transfer of plate and cancel the insurance....inform the insurance company you would like to transfer the ncd to be transfer to your new class 2 bike...the insurance company will send you a cheque the difference between ncd and no ncd....Hope this help....

advantage of keeping the class 2 bike under A's name....you do not have to do any double transfer....example from A's name to B's name as its not necessary

also A can purchase the season parking everwhere scheme under her name....and if B want to buy another bike

He can buy it under his name and purchase the season parking everywhere....

Correct me if i'm missing something, but why can't you do this?

A then "sells" the plate number to B, then obtain new number

B buys class 2 bike and register with the retained number

A then sell the bike to C

named rider still may not have ncd. my suggestion, keeping number plate will have another cost. might as well forgo the number plate and ncd and buy bike under b name. build ncd again, save future trouble
