Things that I usually do for my trip, also serve as my routine/yearly maintenace... so my bike always brand new... in good condition...

For short trip (

Tool kit

Spare parts such as clutch cable, clutch lever, brake lever, spark plug

Tire repair kit

Chain lube

For long trip (> 2000 km)

On top the above, plus

EO, Oil filter

Change clutch plate

Change EO, oil filter, spark plug

Service brake

Change clutch, throttle cable

Valve clearance

Flush coolant

New tire

Check batt charging

It's not cheap, the basic preparation can cost more than $400. But it's worth it.

So for long trip, actually cheaper to bring a 2b bike to go... alot of people actualy using drz for long distance touring... imagine if go by big cow the maintenance cost will be x4 ...

faint sia . more than 2k must bring so many thing.. i think without a box behind cfm no space to put all this thing...

Phantom 200 - FU86XG - April2009 to Oct2009

RoadwinR 125 -FBE109XC-Nov2009 to Still Going On

ninja, those are not small items, those are a workshop!

Anyways planning to remove my P-Plate this friday..very wasted because the PPLate uses some 3M Diamond grade, if i remove it...its gone reduced visibility. Guess I'll visit JuzzWheels and find some 3M stickers to take up the empty space where the Pplate used to be.:(

go make new pattern/shape with your current 3M so it doesn't look like a P-plate and still give the reflectiveness :>

peel off those non-3m P-plates from other bikes and put ur 3M one or put on class 2 bikes. Then hide and film their reactions. Post on youtube and get million hits.

For maintenance of bike, there r 2 ways...

One is the wait til breakdown then fix method. It is okay for local riding condition. And most people roughly know the lifespan of the parts so they get it changed just before it expired.

The other is so called preventive measure. It is to change everything to new one even it is not yet reach its full lifespan. This is to anticipate sudden surprise if your bike breakdown, esp, in foreign country.

So, my advise is for you to take note lifespan of ur parts n get it serviced and changed in any schedule which suit ur budget.
