Divine,

I had this happened to my Daystar previously. Took me 3 hours and 3 cans of insecticides and 2 washing to totally get rid of them. Mine is worse; they were like marching all around my engine and rider seat.

not with my RwR please!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Ramsnake, nice post. No offense taken of course, pls refer to my signature.

"they have to be (jerky) in order to stop us in an instant"well yea this sentence would need some rephrasing. This was in reference to this sentence "i slightly press the front brake and the bike keep on jerk and jerk". It was based on the assumption that he was tapping his brakes hence the 'jerk 'jerk. In an emergency brake in school, you perform a complete squeeze of the front brake, you don't do a tap tap. Anyways we know school bikes s*cks, and the brakes are so seasoned already so we hardly feel the effect..plus in sch you dont need to travel that fast, so at that snail's pace you hardly feel a dive.

But Lastly WELCOME!!Glad you decided on Daelim's 125R. Have you been riding before?

Ya, tap braking would result in "jerk" motion which is actually fork dive/compression.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Yes, I used to ride and having to start at 2B all over again sucks! LOL

Anyway, I'm looking forward to riding the 125R. Just got a call from Roy yesterday that he has a pre-loved white bike for sale. Belongs to anyone from here? Might go and check it out one of these days.

Cheers

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

4)Headlight can change to Blue or white

5)Mirror can change to Kosso(pls refer to dotless)

6)Tires can also be changed

7)Rear Fender can be modded, remove the mud guard(pls refer to dotless)

8)Chain can be changed to the RK X-ring(I think thats what its called)

9)Box!

10)Stickers can be removed, you can go to JUzzWheelz at Jln Bukit Merah at Queensway

Hey, everyone!

I’ve been following this thread as I’m keen on getting a RwR myself. As soon as I clear my 2B, that is... :)

Thanks to all of you for your postings here for u’ve helped me decide in my choice of ride.

I’d like to share what I know about the braking issues Binteng and DivineCreations have been discussing recently. Please note that it is not normal for riders to feel “jerkiness” when applying front brakes. With no disrespect intended to Divine, “they have to be (jerky) in order to stop us in an instant” is simply not true. If you recall your emergency brake exercise while taking your 2B lessons, did any of you feel any jerkiness?

Firstly, I guess it would be helpful to define what is jerkiness. Fork dive when braking, that is your forks compresses due to weight shifting to the front when braking, is not jerkiness. Any other vibration felt through the handlebars is “jerky”. The causes of jerkiness can be:

1) Loose fork/handle bar nuts

Check that the fork nuts at the top yoke (the aluminium plate just in front of tank) are properly tightened. Also check handlebar clamps are tight.

If all nuts tight, check headset.

2) Worn-out, loose or faulty Headset or Headset Bearings

This is the part that connects the front forks to the chassis or frame.

Put bike on mainstand. Have a friend sit on pillion seat to weigh down the rear. Facing the bike from the front, grab the forks and pull-push horizontally to see if there is free-play (movement). Also turn front wheel (not spin wheel) while standing beside bike with both hands on handlebars, full left then full right slowly. When turning, you should feel it turning smoothly. It not, the bearings may need some grease or replacement.

Note that worn bearings may not be the sole culprit in jerkiness under braking.

3) Warped brake disc/rotor

These may be solid steel but they can warp all the same. This is especially true if the grade of steel used is of low quality or simply due to bad manufacturing process. You can visually inspect the disc for signs of warp.

4) Brake calliper dirty/jammed

Dirt and brake pad dust accumulate over time and this does affect brake caliper performance. The jerkiness felt can be due to the pistons “sticking” and releasing under when braking due to the dirt. Problem can be fixed by having the callipers serviced. This should actually be done at regular intervals. I’m not sure what the Daelim manual recommends though.

Above are the more common causes of “jerkiness”, often referred to as “brake judder”. Item 1) is easily fixed but do be careful not to over-tighten nuts. You can do the elimination process yourself so when you do eventually get to CKA, you can tell them what you suspect to be the problem. Binteng, please do have it checked soon as it is not safe to ride with defective brakes.

Sorry for the long post and again, no disrespect intended to anyone. Thought I’d share what I know...

Cheers
