What about the battery? How come suddenly leak?

Btw, Last night my bike suddenly the fuel line came loose. Riding halfway, fuel started to splatter below...luckily reaching destination already..

So i opened up the fuel tank and joined back the line. Think it wasnt properly secured when i was doing wiring for me LED. Result is some lost fuel and a fuel soak pants for work...

my engine stalled twice on the move...

this is the 1st time whereby my engines stalled twice for 2days st8.

the 1st was ytd morning at lornie road. the car infront of me jammed brake, and so did i. the bike was still moving at about 20/km when i noticed that my engine was cutted off. fine riding condition, and it did not rain before hand.

2nd incident was earlier this afternoon. aft the heavy downpour, when i was making my way to camp. this time too at lornie road. traffic light turned red and i had to stop. before i could even stop and put down my feet, i noticed my engine stalled once more.

-road condition was very wet.

but luckily im able to start my engine w/o any problems.

What about the battery? How come suddenly leak?

Bike batteries are like any other battery. When its at the end of its useful life, the acid will leak. Thus, its important to regularly strip the bike naked and visually inspect the usual parts prone to wear and tear.

For the batteries for our bike, perhaps Bloodychamp can tell us how long his battery lasted. The one on my bike lasted about 20 months before the ex-owner changed it. On average, bike batteries last about 1.5 to 2 years. About half-way or 2/3 through its useful life, the points (it has a name but just won't come to mind now... :) ) may start to corrode. You'll see this as white powdery stuff on the cable and point. Dis-connect cable and rinse with warm water or wipe with cloth. After that, use fine sandpaper to sand down cable connecting clamp and battery point to renew conductivity.

Battery may swell before it starts to leak. However some batteries may not swell before leakage. At first sight of swelling or minor leak, have it replaced.

Did you DIY install the LEDs? Anyway, its great you fixed it yourself :thumb:

Anyway, regular visual inspection could save you the trouble, bro. Make sure all hoses with clips are properly clamped. Hoses are not swelling, especially radiator hose.

Sounds like a lot of trouble for the joy of riding, right? It is, but once you get into the habit of doing it, visual inspection becomes a breeze. Anyway, I like to make sure my bike is tip top so I can "just ride". Having confidence in the reliability of the bike is paramount to enjoying the ride. :)

Either your bike really don't like Lornie rd or your injectors are dirty/clogged. :p

I suspect, its the latter, bro. I suggest getting 2 cans of OWS360 from CKA + 3 full tanks of Shell V-power. Pour 1st can into tank and fill up with V-power. When 1st tank hits reserve, fill full tank again with V-power. No need 360 on 2nd tank. Use 360 on 3rd tank of V-Power.

During this process, ride the bike hard. I believe this is not a problem for you, right? :p

I did this and now my bike runs smoothly with no cut-off. After above process, I alternate between V-power and 98.

cheers

I look everybody very up until proven wrong... hehehe :p

U not newbie anymore, bro. Can fix fuel leak on your own :thumb:

Real newbies would just :slapforehead: then call mechanic/friend/mother etc and aske for :help:

Anyway, about the cutting off, i also used the V-power method. seems to work. Too bad promo no more liao..

:thumb::thumb: Great that you did it. I know of 1 guy who has this problem but still don't want to listen. Worst thing is said guy only know how to complain... :?

Nevermind that promo ended. Over the long run, would still be cheaper than repair bill. Best effect is we know our bike won't suddenly die on us. Imagine that happening at a cross junction...

Actually I just realised I'm not pumping V-power on alternate tanks. More like 1 V-power then 2 tanks 98 then V-power again. If I'm itching for a long ride, I'll go in to JB, so will pump V-power and start cycle again.

hope this helps.

cheers

Vpower is only part of the equation. Actually the top fuels from the major companies, be it shell, caltex, esso or petronas, have additives that are not present in their cheaper petrol. It is these additives that do the job of cleaning the injectors.

Of course the other part of the equation is riding the bike hard. Something I believe you don't have a problem with, Seany. :thumb:

When riding our bike hard, the fuel is pumped through the nozzles/injectors at maximum pressures thus practically shooting away stuff that clog it. Temperatures are also higher thus burning up the "stuff". Any resulting fine residue are blown out in the exhaust cycle.

"Burn carbon", guys! That's what its about :)

But i didnt buy frm CKA...haha

So the guy you bought your bike from kept the tool kit for own use... hahaha

Claim from the bugger! :)

Go CKA and ask them what should be in the standard tool kit. Sometimes they have "spare" tools lying around. Ask nicely and you might just be in luck!

Just off the top of me head, our tool kit that comes with the bike should have Plug removal tool, screw driver (reversible phillips/flat type), 3 spanners (No 8, 10 and 12, i think) & 1 Allen Key.

Other stuff we should have is pliers, cable ties, hose clips, pen knife and tyre patch kit for minor repairs. Recently IceCubez said he helped Firestaion to assemble his "complete" tool kit. Maybe Firestation can share with us by listing what's in his.

BTW, Nikon, noted you can't attend the briefing. I will be attending so will keep you posted.

cheers
