Is the K&N air filter better? or is it that you dun have to keep buying new one as it is washable?

What is the maximum period I have to change the original one?

To each his own, some would prefer being conventional, some would like to be different.

I did away with stock filter is because to lessen the hassle to change it.

Also, I just need to have abit of DIY in washing and rechanging to save more on cost.

I do feel the bike's smoother & better pick up after installing & adjusting the idling, but do bear in mind that it may increase FC(but still consider neglectable).

For OEM filter, depending on your ride style, it should be good for 3000km on normal daily city rides, but, this is just my way of interpreting. Cos different ppl has different ride styles & pattern, some may just ride to & fro work, some is for work, riding the whole day or some is for touring & work.

For Steed, it's still easy access to hv a quick view whether if the OEM filter needs a change or not, just an allen key is all you need.

Just my 0.01¢

Thanks for your input! I think I will will change a Honda original one and try K&N another time to see the diff.

I have yet to wash my Steed since I got it. Just now I got a soft car washing cloth and went to wipe the chrome parts and the emblems. Dam a lot of parts can shine nicely by just wiping! Think i should give it a good wash and then wipe for the bike to shine.

Troy437, you managed to get the k&n air filter from FJT.. how much they quote you?

For this filter, is it meant for a Steed, or do I have to buy a 'standard' k&n filter and cut out the shape?

This filter is meant for Steed, no need mod to use I think.. But Your low end will suffer a bit with this filter cos too much air.. K&N filter has higher airflow, but den let in more dirt into ur engine compared to stock filter..

Huhhhh? Lose low end ah? U got K&N in your Steed now? I was thinking of changing to K&N too but the price pulls me back. Otherwise i would change to new stock filter soon.

Thanks for the info TerribleOne. From this, it seems like stock is better if we don't want to sacrifice FC.

But more air would oso mean petrol is burn more complete = save fuel.

This is an aftermarket air filter, complete plug & play, no need any mods, the most is to tk out 3 bushings frm the stock filter to fit in before installing.

huh? didnt have that problem when I had mine leh, infact, the FC was better when I installed it. & my airbox was still clean when I un-install the K&N for washing + recharging, most of the dirt was trapped onto the filter.

& folks, just for info, Eversuccess left 1 piece while Sporting Motors have to order stock. Either shop, the K&N filter cost $100+(incl. gst) for a new piece.

am Im still selling mine. includes installation. price negotiable, bt be reasonable pls.

The air filter allows more air to go in. I do not agree that more dirt gets in because compared to stock, it does better in filtration of the dirt.(saw the display of talcum powder. Only draw back is whether the initial cost is worth it (+ recharger) eg. for my phantom is About $70 with the recharger vs the cheong stock one at $10. and whether it is necessary for more airflow. Dont forger to tune after installing.
