Hi,

I'm about to order in a GPR Full System Exhaust for my bike. However, I'm stuck between to choices.

Stainless Steel vs Aluminium

Aluminium is lighter in weight than Stainless Steel, but will Aluminium Rust? Will there be any performance differences? Sound differences?

What are other differences between these 2 materials?

P.S. Both Exhausts that I'm looking at are from GPR and the same model, everything is exactly the same except for the material used.

Hope to get some feedback soon, so that I can place my order.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

Look at those SS Yoshi after a couple of years or maybe a year later....Looked yellowish and doesnt looked appealing at all...

Your best bet should be carbon or titanium...If not settle for alu ones....

I would love Carbon ones, unfortunately, its not available for my Bike Model.

Stainless Steel seems to sound better to me, Aluminium sounds flimsy. :cheeky: Aluminium ones won't turn Yellowish? Anyway, I haven't seen any Stainless Steel turned Yellowish exhaust around.

I can add 2 things:

Aften an extended ride, aluminium will not be as hot as stainless steel or titanium.

Warm at the most and cools off fast.

Plus most alu cans are brushed metal finish, means scratches will not be so obvious.

I've had my alu end cans for nearly a year now and having raked up close to 20000 kms. No signs of yellowish-ness unlike the Y-section connectors which are made of SS.

Seems like Aluminium is a preferred choice, or at least the support tilts more towards Aluminium.

titanium is still the best, for a few extra bucks, you get a good finish that will last as long as your bike. no worry about visible oxidation or carbon fibre finish yellowing.

Checking with my Workshop, he says my Bike comes in only S/S or Aluminium.

Just checked with GPR Asia who contacted the Italy side, X9 500 does come in Titanium, Carbon Fibre & Poppy as well. However, I think Titanium will actually be the best among them.

Unfortunately as well, all the Exhaust only comes in Slip-On. So how do I restore my Header and the rest back to new, and hopefully anti-rust.
