Saw a kabuto helmet open face that I find quite comfortable for 200. Is this the price for a plain one? At this price range, should I check out other brands? I considering it coz it is quite expensive.

I have been using the kabuto helmet for a few years already. It is made in Japan and the quality quite good. I bought it for $170 then. The $200 price tag is quite reasonable unless you buy design then increas by $50. Buy from Regina specialities at Jalan Besar but must pay cash. Pay for your safety because on the road quit dangerous. Take care!

Just to clarify - it's may be a Japanese brand, but production should be made in China. Oddly, many years ago I went Japan and asked a salesman in a motorcycle accessories shop if they've heard of OGK - he didn't heard of it. And there I see Arai, Shoei and MHR helmets :)

i agree with riderwoon, the helmet is really well made with excellent ventilation. i've used mine for so long but still choose to use it. i just buy new helmet padding and visor and as good as brand new!

Frankly never heard of Kabuto.

But today saw Kabuto Ibuki lightweight flip up helmet (50% sale) at Racing World - next to Ubi driving/riding school. Think around $290. Good buy?

Helmets have a lifespan even if they are not damaged. The protective foam inside the helmet deteriorates with time and exposure to sweat and the elements, and loses it's protective capability even if it still looks fine.

Like running shoes and tyres, best to change a new helmet every 2-3 years even if it looks to be still in good condition
