a cheaper alternative is to simply strip the paint off your rims. u will achieve a stainless steel kind of effect. to really make it shine, u need to polish.

eh i know its an old thread but got some questions.. how do you know whether your rims are alloy? im afraid after i sand off the paint then i spoil the material. also, in the long run is this detrimental for the rims? e.g. rust or corrode since there is no paint to protect?

Brasso is for brass..Hence the name brasso..If you've got a bit more cash to spare get some good metal polish..Polish your paint-stripped rims with a cotton cloth..How shiny it is will depend on how you polish it..:thumb:

I have tried to see things from your point of view..But no matter how hard I try..Or what I do..I just can't get my head that far up my butt..

try meguiar's mag and aluminum polish..pretty good stuff. been using it for some time nw...

As above..I used Meguairs Auto Polysh..A small container (like the size of hair wax) can set you back 17-18 bucks..But the result is satisfyin..:thumb:

Hi all, any recommendations for the paint - remover?

I've tried turpentine, but it seems rather ineffective.

Just go to a hardware store and ask for paint remover..Its sold in cans and not in bottle..Do not touch with bare hands tho..
