That scarabeo is history now. It's the 200cc one(actual cc is 176). One of the best scooter I ever owned (except for the spares support). :faint:

im a big fan of italian bikes and i know the quality of them.

I too am a fan of Italiano ... the heritage, history and legacy of italian marque .. wah ..

I go for the Majesty though ..

.... i don't mind replacement parts being a little pricey but I can't take the down time and breakdown interval ... I had my heart set on a Gilera Nexus ... the customer service at Piaggio put me off big time .. then by chance I met an ex-Nenus and X9 rider... he was so heart broken ... he's a Yam now..:)

Between the X9 and Majesty, I'll go for the Jap Majesty. Super smooth and reliability is there. And lotsa after market parts, too.

OLD NO GO, NEW NO COME.

the problem is ... the new majesty cost a bomb $10,500 on the road.

I went all ard ... some shops are seling the old majesty which is not so appealing.

so its kinda sucky. i guess i have to wait for the newer one to be sold at shopes or wait for the price to drop for the new ones.

Take your time to search...

...can't help you with the aesthetic tho .. heehee ...comparing to a Mk 2 i prefer the old design actually, it feels more consistent except the headlight a bit too low ... it's a mid 90's design thing .. the tail light cluster reminds me of Mazda 323 / BMW 3 series / Toyota Corona of the same era ... mechanically they are all about the same .. how much the shops offering for FP / FQ plates?

Sean : "Actually theres no need to change as the clutch was still in good condition but the knocking sound was pretty unnerving especially while idling the bike."

I have the irritating knocking sound.. couldn't trace it .. though I did find out through from one Oz rider that his was contributed by worn variator cams/spacer .. I changed that, my cam was badly worn and the sound stop! ... only for a day ...hahahaha ... so you think it was caused by some sort of loose play in the clutch assembly.. what could it be?

Scarab: How's the new ride? It's the 500? And running piaggio engines?

If you open the clutch assembly, you will see 3 clutch shoes, springs and 3 rubber stoppers. The rubber stoppers in my clutch assembly were already worn out thus they could not cushion the shoes properly when they are opened thus the noise while idling. Yamaha don't sell the stoppers seperate unlike Honda thus need to get the whole assembly even though my shoes were in good condition.

well its abt there bro ...... maybe cheaper ... i did not ask in details as i wasnt that keen in the old majesty..... i still prefer the new ones.

the reason that stops my from buying the old majesty is the exterior.

that makes me hunt for others but i can only op for the newer X8 or X9

about the rubber stoppers in the clutch assembly .. how they work? When shoes are in close position it rest on rubber?

Square headlights = Mk 1 prob up to FM to FR

Angular headlight = mk 2 FS onwards

There's a Mk 3 i think (maybe wrong) ... and now it's replaced by the X-Max .. which doesn't look like any Majesty cause the shield is handlebar mount and not integral with the body but interior space and engine still the same

Yo sean... good work! Informative! I realised that the Grand model is not as good with fuel though power is up.

I can imagine Yamaha's worldwide sale fugures must have recouped their R&D and production cost few times over. Every model differs in cosmectic and some chasis upgrade.

Thanks.:cheeky:

Did some research on the net before I bought my bike. Some of the info might be wrong as most of the info were from Yamaha Japan and IBIKE HK. No knowledge of Japanese and my cantonese very lau yah.

Those interested in Majesty should really visit IBIKE HK as they provide a lot of info on the bike.(with some customised bike pics)

Not to sure bro. All I know is that when idling, the shoes wil constanly hit against the stoppers. thats why we always hear scooters having the kook, kook, kook sound when idling. If the stoppers are worn, it will sound as if the shoes are hitting against metal.
