Hmmm, I guess noe matter how well manufactured, the variator surface and the roller surface will not 'seat' perfectly together.... and therefore over time this will result in wear and tear. Another factor could be the vibration of the moving parts I think.

Can't figure out why the rollers get flatten ... its like something it is stuck in one position; not rolling and some other surface is moving on this face of the roller till it flattens ...interesting really ..

i observe that the whole time when these rollers goes in the aluminium round thing, they don't have any chance of rolling a complete revolution,,

its not like u put these rollers on the ground and u goes pushing it around,, this case it will wear out evenly jus like tyres wore,

so, i strongly recom to use sliders , serves the point more !!!

i have not tried.

life is just like a piece of chocolate........................................

For those interested:

Just checked my rollers. After more than 10,000 kms and Singapore-only riding, I must say the Polini rollers still look in great condition... and can easily last another 10,000kms!

P.S: Scarab you must always "lut" your bike one is it?! :help:

Anybody know why the belt jumps when moving off? This happens even after changing the rollers, sliders, belt and clutch. Getting abit sick off the jerking movement everytime I move off or picking up speed after slowing almost to a complete stop. Can it be the variator being worn out or maybe the torque spring?

Sometimes can even hear grinding sound from the transmission.

Anybody have the same experience?

No. I only tried the top speed once after about 500kms running in.

I had to use my dad's Majesty (mk 2) on Sat morning. And I do realised that his machine's jerkiness is worse than before. We thought it could be carb related but Hong Leong said it wasn't and he had rollers, sliders, spacers, var cam replaced by them. Anyway, he is supposed to visit Botak to get his carb cleaned, hopefully that solves the problem.

2 sats ago, on my Majesty Mk 1, I removed the transmission cover and basically studied the transmission at different throttle openings. There is a definite "belt jump" whenever I throttle off and the variator goes from full open to close position.

I believe this happens because the inertia in the variator reaches a point where the clutch spring overcomes it and applies tension to the belt (when variator is fully opened, variator applies tension to belt).

This was on mainstand, and I am not sure if this is the case on the move and I don't feel any jerkiness on my machine.

Anyway, roller diameter is 20mm and wear limit is 19.5mm. Don't know what the values are in terms of weight.

Variator Cam? is this the one that clams onto the variator? How much to replace this?

The part should cost under $30 before labour. This is housed inside the movable part of the variator (moving sheave). This variator cam sandwiches the roller against the inside of the variator. You know the "U-shoe" thing? The "U-shoe" (proper name is slider) sits in the cam groove .. I try and attach a pic. Anyway, the cam can wear out! And it creates free play that contributes to rattling noise as the sliders are no longer held firmly in place by the cam.

Some owners of maxi scoots (not in singapore) practices changing rollers, sliders, and spacers together. It cures their "rattling noise". But I never did cure mine despite changing the sliders, spacer and the very worn variator cam

Thanks bro. This might be the cause. By the way urs a 1st gen 4HC right? I don't remember seeing any spacers in mine. Only sliders and rollers.

Paisei, Paisei. Just remember the spacers are a thin strip of metal fixed onto the sliders. Any way thanks for the info. Will continue to change parts in the transmission in order to solve this problem. Will update if the problem can be recified.

No worries Sean, that's how it should be. Everyone sharing info for the common good. Afterall, riding is a pleasure and shouldn't be grieve inducing trauma :) ... have a look at the yahoo maxi scoot group. Great knowledge base there!

I had a Helix 250 before, the model before the Forza and I rode my friend's old Forza (shield on handle bar model) briefly for a short distance, ... personally, I didn't like the Forza's handling, steering is tall and feels a little too much work to move about at low speed traffic. Maybe because he a packed trunk and tail box? But the newer Forza looks pretty and I believe the steering is lower than before.

well in terms of performance ... any difference ?? is for forza for tall guys since ur mention its kinda tall for the steering ?

..can't comment about performance cos' I wasn't comfortable with the handling to push the machine. It is not tall for tall people in that sense. Rather the handle bar is positioned higher than a Majesty, and narrower too. It takes a bit more effort to steer it. Just my opinion.

Anyway, it's really subjective. It didn't work for me and that doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you. Unfortunately, there's no way in SGP to try a bike before buying ..sigh ..

You found a Forza? And u still looking for a Majesty?
