Tks Bikeagain for the info really appreciate it!

Guys..jus wana gather some feedback..wat is the temperature on your bike when cruising

let say ard 90-110km/h or even in normal road speed..my bike temp usually is ard the 90s range

most of the time and heats up real fast when at the traffic light or in slow gear..is it normal?

And another thing..when shifting from neutral to 1st gear..it sounds loud..is it because

i should change to a fully synthetic engine oil for a smooth transition?

tks guys for the valuable information

temperature question.. normal for fazers..

gear question.. normal for class 2 bikes..

Hi guys. I haven't been riding for years and have been out of touch with bikes for a long time.

I am seeking to get myself a FZ6 or a S4. Am more inclined towards the FZ6 though. :D or will fz1 be more valuable for money?

I have a few questions. It will be great if any brothers are free to help me.

1) I heard there are 2 models of fz6? Naked? Sport? What's the difference other than looks? Got price difference and value? Which is more popular?

2) am seeking the bike for occasional touring and fun ride around the island. Thought of getting the side boxes for touring. Will both fz6 models be able to fit side boxes? How will the aero dynamics of the bike be affected when 2 cumbersome side boxes are fitted? Asked about this cause a friend once told me having the rear top box has less vibrations and less possibility of a tank slap when riding at high speeds above 220kmh. Those bros who have the side boxes installed, how is it like when u travel at high speeds around 220kmh? Got encounter cross winds on NSHW before? I encounter before on my R6 last time. But not too bad. But with the boxes, I don't know...

3) how much will the biggest box cost? And what's the biggest size for the bike available that u guys have heard before?

4) what should I look out for when purchasing a used fz6? Anything important I should look out for?

5) what are the common issues/problems of this bike that you guys encountered?

6) are most parts easily available? My 05R6 had inverted forks which is not available. Had to ship from japan... :"( which are the reputable shops that service the fazer?

Sorry for the questions...

Thanks for your time in reading!

Happy New Year everyone!

Cheers!

1) Mine is naked with faring but ABS model. Not much difference but just the aerodynamics when you going up to tour and the model series that you need to take note. It's more of your interest in street style or tour.

2) So far reached 230 km/h in speed and start to wobble if I have the topbox installed. Could slightly hit a little higher but hey. It's a mid range bike not top end so what you expect. The pickup is just right and marvelously it can still play around the corners to make you wee happy especially up Genting leaving your 1000cc kakies behind up to the summit. ;)

3) Givi Maxia the latest version can take up to 55L I heard. You can try Hepco & Decker. Side boxes will still affect your stability coz of the wind netherless what bike unless you do some mods on dampers.

4) FZ6 is somewhat like S4 but it's a detuned R6 engine for the latest models ain't sure about the earlier models though. Just normal basic regular servicing is enough (engine oil, plugs) and monitor your magnetic coil just in case.

5) No problems at all so far but just take note of what mechanics are doing to your bike rather than spoil it.

6) Some parts I ordered online and fix myself. Usually from UK. FZ6 is still quite famous over there. It depends on how you declare reputable is the shop. There's quite a handful.

Hope this helps. Cheers for the New Year. ;)

Thank you zeroshift for your answers, and thank you alpha82 for asking the same questions that are on my mind.

Next question i have is, where are all the second-hand fz6? Hardly see them on the private marketplace. I've seen a couple at the shops but i ain't going to pay their ridiculous prices and stupid admin fees.

Thanks for the reply bro!

mind sharing a few photos of how your ride looks like? :slurp:

I chop chop curry pok. got myself a FZ6N since the last time I posted. haha!

Any recommendations for the following things I wanna do up?

1) tires (brand, type?) am fearful of wet roads.

2) brake hoses (HEL or something)

3) side/top box. which shop has a huge variety of boxes available where I can drop by, see see and choose from there?

4) belly pan

5) small to medium sized windscreen.

6) slight rust in the fuel tank near the fuel cap. never experience before in R6 before...

7) major servicing and tuning of bike. (where is recommended? any garage that is popular among Fazers?)

BTW, I experienced some slight wobbling during corner and bike also sems to drift away a bit at higher speeds. Any idea why?

Front forks was just serviced 3 days ago.

The lower gears seem to be pretty rough as well compared to R6. Is it normal due to higher low end torgue for the FZ6?

Thanks in advance to those who read and help out!!

Cheers!

Photos can't upload. :p

1) Metzeler Roadtec or Bridgestone sporttouring tires I would recommend

2) Any brake hose will do, cheapest is STAR brake hoses that I noe of. Hel should be fine as well

3) There's alotta places you can see. From LAB, Motorworld, 219, Chong Aik, Mah Motors and etc. Just that the brackets you may take some time to find.

4) Belly pan you can try Motorvation for Puig brands or biketech for powerbronze

5) There's MRA at Motorworld or Puig at Motorvation or Unique

6) Don't think there's any effect unless your fuel pump is clogged with rust.

7) There's alot you can try. Perhaps start those with service package offers.

Check the fork adjuster or your suspension if you need to adjust. Coz first time I rode my bike, it feels different from my old R1 coz of the upright position. So may need to adjust to your riding style or settings. Check your tires if there's any camel humps or your front no

not properly aligned. Just simple mods will do for transport or ur planning fer track.

Need to rev slightly higher or feel the bike before changing your gears. Will get some time to adjust. Cheers. ;)

Not just thinking of it, will definitely go back to riding haha.

I just got a new job in a new location not accessible (by my standards) to public transport. Anyway was thinking of getting back a super4 (again!!) but then saw that the fz6 offers more 'bike' for less money. Gonna take some time before i find the right bike and then i'll be parking at my VIP lot again lol.

Wise choice. I would think that a fz6 and a s4 would not differ much in terms of maintenance and running costs. S4 is seriously absurdly overpriced here. Anyway your spot is safe. It's occupied by my scooter now. Haha. Shall see you when you get your new ride then.

hi guys i just recently bought a fz1( with head ) first hand and when i asked the shop uncle about the run in. he just said 800click can le. den after that can ride as per normal. but from what i read in owners manual. it says got 3 stages. first at 500 den 1000 den 3000. den after that considered " run in ". can anyone here please help me out. dont wana ruin my new babyXD

Suggest you follow the manual safer bro. Each gear plays a part of getting used to gear to engine ratio. It's the feel of each step will make you understand your bike more.

alright thanks man! btw what EO will you recommend? is mothul 330v 15-50 a good choice?

For run in, mineral oil is good enough.

You will need to change the oil after the run in period, so there is no point of buying premium oil at this stage.

For run in, stick to the manual in terms of the run-in engine RPM and the period which the oil shall be changed.

The manual works for most people, so i do not see the point of doing likewise.

There are many theories about running in, no rights or wrong but sticking to the manual from the manufacturer is recommended.

Don't scrimp on stuff like non original oil filter. Not worth the risk.

I hope you also got yourself a decent set of riding gear. :D

The best $$$ i've sent on the bike is a set of L valve (Bridgeport) for the wheels which made checking and pumping air pressure so much easier.

You can get it at Unique Motors at Kaki Bukit (http://www.uniquemotorsports.com.sg/).

I think its sold elsewhere also.

Well, the usual Givi brands works good enough. Just a box bro. :)

Good quality for the price.

Thanks that's the most common brand i've heard, because my previous bikes never had boxes haha. At the same time i'm also trying to research on another brand - Coocase.

Hi, im new to thiz forum. Im riding a 2008 fz 1 (2nd hand) for 2 years. Recently I have some problem when trying to start the bike when the engine is cold. The battery has enough power as I just changed it & I have a volt meter which indicates the voltage is high before I start. I noticed if the temperature is hot it there is no problem to start. My friend told me that this may be due to the starter. Any advise. Thanks
