i think the thing here is not really speed.... RPM is important cos its the speed in which the piston is moving ... The gears don't really need that much time to "season" as the piston

High gear + 100km/h(or whichever recommended ) = low rpm . Not low gear + 100km/h = high rpm

Just my humble thoughts ...

wacking the bike at gear 1 can damage or spell seizures for your bike, even though it is a class 2 bike,it is running on coolant and fan, not injected 2t like 2stroke,so becareful of being the doctor,"rossi" i mean or you will end up finding a real one for your bike.not flaming u bro!! just injecting humor thats it,haha ride safely man..:bouncefire: :bouncefire: :bouncefire:

bikes are supposed to be running in hard......if u soft running it like what is said in the manuals.....ur piston rings wont be able to set properly.........try reading this link and it will explain why.....u should run in hard....http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

and if u have finish ur running in...u can just whack it at any gear....no problem....even at first gear......but remember u will tend to do a wheelie at that first gear too...be careful...

cheers

bro, i read it, but i dont understand. so if i were to overhaul my engine, i have to run in, i do a hard break in? mind explaining it in layman terms?

to what i understand that the piston rings need to be sealed properly to the chamber to give a tight seal to the combustion chamber(block)....if u change ur piston n ring but didn't hone(a process where diamond polisher are us to provide a very fine finishing normally mirror like surface on a diameter or hole or tubes(which is ur block))its as good as no used coz u can never really seal ur piston ring to a tight fit as the surface of ur block is rough....just imagine why when they(mechanic) rev ur bike hard after a piston change nothing happen rite.....and they ask u to run in first?funny rite.... they rev it hard to do the settings but ask u to run in and control ur RPM not to exceed certain rpm...it doesn't make sense rite....so what i suggest is u rev it hard and ride it normal.......it should be ok......i am not an expert but i just try to understand how things work logically....cheers

Is recommended to be "smooth" at all gears. No problem reaching high RPMs at any gear. Hard acceleration shortens the "life" of following:

- Rear Spocket

- Cush Rubber

- Chain

I know from presonal experience. I've changed them at 24,060km.

Fast acceleration also affects the engine's performance in long term. Best is to be "smooth" on teh thrutle.

First gear open throttle fully and throw ur clutch fully!! Bike run in or not still power!! :thumb: :thumb: On a Busa will hit 0km/hr- 0km/hr in 0 sec, havent blink ur eye, you would be seeing sky, star, sun and moon all at the same time...

under no load hard break in is ok.... that is why most hard break in done on dyno, no up slope down slope, no stop and go traffic to overheat the system, etc......

get a sand paper.... sand a piece of metal.... try pushing down hard on sand paper and after that putting light pressure.. do it both ways fast and slow.. tell me which will get a smoother affect on the metal u sanding? Ever see how they prep car before painwork to get a mirror smoothe gloss finish... they sand of with fine sand paper slowly.. Ever see ppl sand very aggressively, those only do it cos they wanna get the job done fast but with no quality. If you every use a milling or turning machine you would now how to get the smoothes surface on metal.... same concept...

Bike mech rev ur bike hard to tune, bike under no load.. So relatively safe.... unless he whack full throttle for 30sec, that killing the bike.. LoL

Even if u hard break in on a dyno... Your gears and other internal parts are not broken in yet.. You would still have to ride slow to break them in properly.. If not you will find later on that shifting ur gears and other stuff not so smoothe...

After your bike has completly run in, do anything you like with your bike. i.e. dang yiu, zhua yiu, what ever you call that. Wack the daylight out of the engine before change gear, as long as not in the red zone of techco meter (rpm meter) for too long , it's ok.

But of course, like some bros here mention, if you ride your bike hard, then higher wear and tear on your bike --> burn more $$$ in your pocket. So, your choice in riding style.

And one final and very important thing, it's damn difficult to get your riding / driving license in Singapore. If u treasure it, go across the boarder to do crazy things on your bike. You won't loss your license. If your balls are bigger than your brain, well, you can try doing it in Singapore and hopefully lady luck is with you always.

Happy riding and doing crazy things on the road.

is okay after ur running in.. u can whack as hard as u can but u will be using alot of petrol to maintain ur style... haha

i would second on "Riding Smooth" rather than "Riding Hard" u will still be able to feel the power of the bike if u ride smoothly, else you would have to throw more $$ to maintain the wear and tear on the bike le...

In the end it's still your choice, but remember, with great power comes great responsiblity kekeke... :D

its not advisable to "tua" gear 1 till red zone, very bad for the engine. Try to tua from gear 2 onwards. Gear 1 is juz for you to "pull away" not to whack at gear 1. The ratio also will lead to "wheelie" ! hehehhehe
