What brand do you think is the best, chooses carefully. I even added some of the strangest brand that you may not have heard of.

btw does anybody know about some of China brands now coming out also Off-road bikes. Example brands like LiFan, Hongdou, Kymco (Taiwan). Also Hyosung (Korea) has one. There's also exotic european brands like Rieju/Sherco/Motohispania (Spain), Peugot (France), MZ (German/Malaysian)... I wonder where to view / test

Some of the brand names you mention are not avaliable in Singapore.

Peugot got cars here but not bikes.

hi,dat was true abt 5 years back but now there is not much difference in most of the parts prices esp the wear n tear items. some parts r cheaper n some a bit more expensive than jap bikes. the only major difference would be the piston kit. but the ktm piston/rings last much longer than the jap bikes,so yr work back cost would be slightly cheaper.

 

as a adult with other commitments 2,i took a long hard look b4 i bought my ktm. its my 1st n the engine performance is off the chart compare 2 a jap bike n i have no trouble in the parts department 2. there is a ktm 200 '06 model 4 sale. info can be found on the mssc website. go take a look,dats a good bike 2 get.

sorry to say...I've rode and owned KTM4, KTM2, WR4, WR2, XR4 etc...I would grab a Jap bike if I'm gonna trail or transport + trail...........overall cost of ownership of a KTM will kill.........I think its simply a fact (bet most would agree)......yes, its a good bike...but looking at the application of most riders....its nice and glam to own one if your pocket are deep enuff and can afford it....will it make u a faster rider wif tat bike...like u say, majority still depend on rider

 

For track/MX etc.....I guess if I were to try those, I would still take Jap bikes like CRF, KXF, YZF,RMZ anytime over a KTM....look at the AMA MX or SX races..or look nearer, our Tuas MX race...wat are the podium bikes???..prob I only see KTM winning races in enduros wif David Knight and J. Saha etc.....but these are factory riders....overhaul bike or change engine after every race or 2 maybe.....no doubt KTM stock form is "race ready"....but servicing frequency / interval can nvr match or better Jap...and for sure..parts for parts.....KTM are more expensive then Jap...tats my experience thou

 

Parts availablity?.....brakes, air filter, engine oil, pistons, gaskets, clutch pads.....common wear and tear...these parts are easily available for most or all bikes....seals and bearings are pretty generic too.....correct me if I'm wrong

well,i have been there n done dat.....my last jap was a "96 suzuki rm 125 (ex fmf factory bike) by the time it came 2 sell my bike. i sold it at abt 3.5 k n it went with abt 3.5k worth of parts.

 

well,u r currently having a mx bike....so sooner or later u will noe wat i mean by finding hard 2 get parts.
