Upon asking around my friends, i was adviced to buy Shell CoolGuard OAT Ready To Use (pre mixed formula). No water needed to be added to it. Price is @ SGD$6 per 1 liter bottle. An s4 would require 2 bottles. Anyone any comments about this?

Actually not exactly 2 bottles bro..most prob u only use 1 1/2 bottles of the coolant

2 liters of coolant was jus enough to fill up the radiator and the reservior...

when i top up the reservior, total is 2 liters including those tat went into the radiator...

when pouring coolant into the radiator, you need to constantly tilt the bike left and right so that the coolant can flow into the radiator properly...

lets talk about, Flushing coolant... again... :p

what are the correct steps to flushing coolant...

  • 1. remove side panels and petrol tank of bike.
  • 2. open radiator cap and coolant reservior cap.
  • 3. remove coolant draining screw located on the left side of bike at coolant pump.
  • 4. allow coolant to drain out completely.
  • 5. remove coolant reservior screw and empty coolant in reservior.
  • 6. tighten screw back to coolant pump.
  • 7. pour in about 1.5 liters of distilled water into radiator.
  • 8. start engine for 2 mins and let the distilled water "clean" the internal of the coolant system.
  • 9. off engine, remove screw at coolant pump to drain distilled water completely.
  • 10. tighten screw back to coolant pump.
  • 11. fill up radiator and coolant reservior with coolant fluid.
  • 12. start engine and topup excess to reservior if nessecary.

-the total capacity of coolant for s4 including reservior is about 2 liters.

-when pouring coolant into the radiator, you need to constantly tilt the bike left and right so that the coolant can flow into the radiator properly.

-i had done my coolant flushing and refill and 2 liters jus went into the radiator and reservior completely...

pls monitor the coolant's reservior...

my bet is that it will drop by the original marking...

as according to spec 3 manual the required coolant is 2.2L

distilled water will not rust and corrode the internal parts of the radiator and cooling system but normal tap water will. i think its due to the oxygen in the tap water...

as for and old bike like mine, (7years old) the internal of the radiator cooling system is more or less, corroded. be it yes or no, we cant see. but jus to take pre-cautions. if we were to use coolant flush to clean the internal, the coolant flush might "eat" into the corroded areas and worst, form a crack in the cooling system... then... you can imagine the rest...

the above are my 2 cents... anyone pls correct me if i'm wrong...

Radiator mesh usually ppl DIY. Buy mesh, cut to correct size then spray yourself. Secure it with cable tie or metal wires. Mesh comes in a very big piece (enough for a few pieces) so better if u can gather a few ppl to share.

hey guys, can a spec 2 rear hugger be fixed on a spec 1??

bro, there are a few types of hugger in the market and most of them can fit on most of the bikes. if u wana know can fit or not, jus see which design you like, then ask the shop guys if can fit or not... mostly can fit one... and i recommend you to go Motoworld... higher price to pay but better service and better quality. hope my answers above satisify your question. feel free to ask more. i recieved your pm b4. think you are a newbie to s4... welcome to the s4 family. :cheer:
