To get it as a first bike or not?

My friends told me not to get because it will be hard for me to transit to class 2A as the GROM is very small and light compared to 2A bikes.

But it fits me very well, im 5'2(157cm) and only using the bike to get around places in singapore and work

my take is, if the bike is a conventional manual with clutch lever and standard controls, you are not likely to experience significant problems learning a 2A.

people ride all sorts of different 2b bikes, from full auto scoots to turning handle gear lever vespas, and all can transit to 2A, so why would an MSX125 give you significant difficulty? the 2A is a learning experience for everyone who transits, regardless the bike you ride. even a standard 2b roadster rider will need to get used to more weight and more power.

besides.... you learned 2b with zero bike experience before rite? how can 2A with riding experience possibly be more difficult than that learning curve of 2b?

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

i would say that its a good first bike, firstly because it's a manual. dont worry about the transition to 2A because thats what the 2A riding lessons are for. as for the msx125, i'm also planning to get one because it's low maintenance compared to most bikes and has a really good fuel consumption. some of my friends say it can be as good as 60km/litre. which is alot better than my bbone scooter which only goes at about 22-24km/litre. its small and agile. good for a transport bike!
