Casio, there are 2 Vees on sale at SBF bike mart I believe. You can consider them.

Regarding tyres, I'm using tourance EXP. Works well for me. Smooth & grippy on tarmac. No wobbling as well (I use a fork brace btw). Off road performance is satisfactory as well but got to drop the tyre pressure by a fair bit. I usually count to 20 depressing the tyre valve. You'll fishtail all over the place if you ride at full 240-250 psi on dirt.

Wees have better fc than the vees. The TDM has the best fc among the liter class adv tourers. For the sake of conversation, I just pumped full tank in SGP and the lady at the cashier was shocked that I pumped $40 worth of petrol. First time my wee drank local petrol. Would have easily cost me RM40 across the causeway.

Bike conked out on the highway last Thu. Spent an hour trying to restart to no avail. Diagnosis at HKL: Magneto coil, gasket, rectifier, battery change. Cost: A whopping $820. Bike is barely two years old. Any idea how to prevent a repeat? I know some brothers have gotten an aftermarket headlight switch. Where can we install this?

well i bet urs is a 1000 cc. i think it is just the manufacturing defect since most including myself the coil burnt out only affect the Vee and not the wee. i dont think that there will be a repeat of the problem. finger crossed.

do note that switching the headlight does not solve the problem because of the way our stator work. all the excess current will go back to the stator as heat. more excess=more heat=more wear. dont quote me tho but that was what i read in some international forum.

i've stopped switching off the light unless necessary. but that's just me.

cheers

I have to agree it's a manufacturing defect...in short Suzuki never successfully manage to tame the TL1000 engine. Many owners are not comfortable with the frequent wear and tear of this bike thus gave up the bike. Another root of the problem is that this bike is not meant for frequent commuting in citiy-like area especially Singapore. It's suppose to go long distance. That explains the frequent problem encountered by SG Vee owners compared to US. So if the bike keeps dying on you, you have not been going up north frequent.

Hopefully with the new market production of Super Tenere, Crosstourer and the already popular GSA and KTM Adventure, Suzuki still keeping the wild card and waiting for the perfect time to announce their new bike in this league. I think they are still trying to perfectly detune the new SV1000 engine. Let's just  for the best.

I belief what the chief says is correct , the bike is meant to go long distance , short distance city traveling will kill the bike.
