V-Strom (650cc & 1000cc)

Just to info that the vstrom is a real good bike. I am now in Laos Luang Namtha and have been on the road for 18 days now. As some of you maybe aware, road condition in Cambodia and Laos are quite bad. Today I think I have gone through the worst road condition I have ever riden in my life and that is the road from Luang Prabang to Odomxay. Total distance about 210km of which 150 km are really bad. The Vstrom took me from Singapore all the way through all the bad roads without problem. The metzeler tourance exp tires performed very well also.

 

After riding so far, I really learn appreciate the vstrom, a real good bike in my opinion.

No la nvr buy. I have been waiting for this b4 deciding wat to get. It looks good. Slimmer tank n seat. Nicer imo. Ergos about the same. Love the new dash. Think it's a little lighter also. Looks like they competing w Versys.

 

Price he dowanna reveal. Say next mth oni but will b more ex than 2011. So i assume we r looking at $23k otr +- $500.

Thanks for the voltmeter which i had install a year ago.

 

for a couple of week i had notice a slight flutuation in the voltage and it becomes real noticiable during the past few days, the fluction was more than 1-1.5volts at i clock the milage at 83105. and recently at 84k milage the voltage will stay at 12 +/- 0.5 during the day time heat will able to reach back 14.2 +/- 0.5 volt at night riding but as soon as the temperature reach 3 bar it will drop the voltage again to 12 v ( the heat is still ok as the fan is not activated) as the bike cool of it's able to go back to 14 volt, but still as soon it's the day time the volt would stays at 12 volt. so at 84103 i rode to looi to yank out the rectifier and coil

 

The dignose

 

the coil has a slight burnt of about 4 cm long and rectifier still seems doable.

 

additional info

 

thru it all the voltage different the bike is still ridable does feel any different except the headligh seems dimmer. but as i usally says if situation permit the storm will still be able to ****1t and just ride.

 

I belief i could still make an additional 1oookm until cannot move

new progressive front springs(from previous owner...never got to fix)

passenger grab rail(black)

radiator tube(less than 1 yr old)

front wheelset

throttle body with the injectors(1 of the injector is less than 1 yr old..cost me almost $900 for just that injector)

stock handlebar
