hello fellow strommers

have a 2009 v strom bought second hand with 19000on the clock. bought it just before i had a new idea - to ride from singapore to sweden to raise funds for cancer research! not the bike i would have chosen for that much mileage, and am also getting some soft pressure to land a GS. truth is i really like the strom and have had nothing but good times. don't feel like letting it go, but would like to know any thoughts on what mods you would recommend?

at present i have made following changes

steel braided brake lines front and rear

scottoiler

new ratifier - this did give me trouble

higher widescreen

bigfoot

Hepco alu side boxes, hepco black top box

my main worry - tendancy to backfire on deceleration. anyone with similar problems and what suggestions?

DL650 L2 price about 23k and tiger 800 about 27k. FC for DL650 about 500+ km, FC for tiger is about 400km. Speed and power Tiger is Better:)

Hi guys, i'm keen on getting a Vstrom DL650.

Just wondering, has anyone here have any experience with the Hepco & Becker (H&B) side panniers?

I was looking at the Xplorer 30L side cases and was thinking of it as a permanent installation to the bike.

Will there be any issues in lane-splitting and squeezing thru the traffic?

My friend rides a Fazer 600 and his H&B Junior 30l side panniers are streamline enough that he can squeeze through.

I was wondering if its the same for the vstrom 650 cos the right side of the bike is occupied by the exhaust.

Comments pls. Thanks in Advance!

In my opinion, on the average, you will be 50% less capable of lane-splitting with side panniers on in heavy traffic.

Normal traffic condition, no problem.

Woodlands check point is a bit tight but do-able and no problem at tuas check point.

Typically the handle bar end to end width should be wider than the side panniers end to end width. So bike should be able to pass thru if its front can.
