Assuming you're riding that super4 in your signature, it's going to be an average 5-hour journey to KL taking breaks + petrol stops.

My advice to you is to go in with a buddy, there's no way you should be riding solo on your first trip.

As far as the bike is concerned, you'll want to get it serviced and checked-out hopefully one week before your trip so that anything that can go wrong will have gone wrong. The usual things to do are to change engine oil (if necessary), check brakes (pads+fluid?), lubrication of cables (clutch+throttle), coolant (top-up?), tyres (wear?), forks (leaking?), steering bearings (worn?), lights (working?), chain (adjusted? worn?) + whatever other wear+tear parts. Night before your ride, you'll want to check the pressure of your tyres + lubrication of the chain.

Get a map. Don't overload your bike by packing too many things, it'll affect the handling, it's only a short get-away, not a camping trip. Tools you might want to bring are a tyre-repair kit, maybe 2 of those inflation-canisters, a basic tool-kit, black-tape + cable-ties and a torch-light and basic first-aid kit. You'll want to bring rain gear.

On the day itself, make sure you have your passport, white card, toll (cash-card + RM$1.30) if you're going in by 2nd link.

I'm sure the rest will have some suggestions for you too.

And watch yourself at Sepang, it's been known for bike-theft.

Hey guys, is it possible for a SP to go all the way to KL and maybe further? Even if the rider can take the long hours, will a 2-stroke bike like SP be able to withstand the long distance?

If I'm planning to ride at 100-120km/h, what are the things I must do to ensure a smooth journey? I was thinking every 100km, let my bike cool for 30 minutes or something like that? Cause I'm afraid that if I overwork my bike, it might breakdown halfway since it's a 2-stroke bike. By the way, I might be riding alone...

Any views to share or suggestions would be greatly appreciated guys. Thanks!

I brought a TA150 to KL ang Genting.

I whack full throttle to and fro, no problem.

Before your ride, ask your mech to open your 2T more.

But don't whack full throttle all the way la. 80% of your top speed or less will do.

An hour or so of riding is fine. Upon reaching rest point, let engine dle for 1 mine then turn off.

Sp should not have any problem going to kl or further jus ride normally like what you do everyday.... jus don full throttle all the way.... 110 to 120 should be ok!!!

That's good news. Cause when I told my friends I might be going solo to KL on a SP, they told me I would be a hero if I return back to Singapore with my SP in one piece. Guess it's a challenge for me..

Anyway, I suppose I have to do a full servicing before starting my tour, am I right? Do I need another servicing from Genting back to Singapore? And also, what are the neccessary items that I need to carry along with me to ensure I don't get stuck in the middle of NSHW, because I only have a backpack to squeeze all my belongings.

Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it!!

Travelling on a 2strokers are definetly much more straining.

Most importantly, know your bike well and have confident with it.

Do not scrimp on your 2T. 2 strokers rely very much on 2T.

Just carry the nessasary tools that you required.

Common stuff stuff like spare plug/bulb/clutch(if its cabled), and a set of tyre repair kit with a small handpump

Travelling solo is a great challenge.

With greater challenge, you are facing greater danger.

Be sure that you have autoroams and In-Case-Emergency Number well prepared.

You wouldnt want to stuck in the middle of NSH looking helplessly.

Cheers

First to get your mentality right.

Riding solo to KL is not "hero", many of us has riding solo to Thailand, many SP has went for long distance trip.

From your posts, obviously you are very inexperience.

You not even familiar with your own bike.

Are you familiar with Msia road? Can you speak abit of Malay? Do you have any contact in case of emergency?

My advice to you is to join some riding trip first, get some experience and familiar yourself with the road condition and your own bike.

Hi CLar3nzE,

It is good you want to go tour on your bike, but if like what MrLau said and it's your 1st trip, not a good idea to go all the way to KL and beyond.

My 1st trip (solo) was to Malacca on my Phantom 200. Did not want to go furhter as I was not experience and had never done any touring before.

It was a good experience.

Planning is IMPT!!!

- I read all the postings on trips to Malacca

- Planned my route and places to go and stay

- Did full servicing informing the mech of my trip

- Brought along spare EO

- Information such as emergency contacts, motorshop numbers, tow truck servicing, etc.

Anyway, jus mt 0.02cents. Enjoy your trip!

By the way, where do I get infomations such as Motorshop number? Only emerency numbers I know of at the moment is the NSHW Toll free hotline and PLUS Ronda.

when i was travelling along NS highway at 140km/hr last month, i got hit by swarms of tiny flies at least 3 occasions. It blurred my visor screen to a certain extended. Luckily i had brought a special 3M cloth which can remove stains without smudging, cost me about $10 for a small piece. Its good for cleaning yr glasses and visor - i think its useful. I also carry a small tiny spray which is for cleaning glasses & makes it anti-fog.

Agree with MrLau.

Get some experience riding by joining some groups. Without experience, high chance of getting into trouble. Ain't no fun getting stuck in a foreign land.
