Hi guys.. Recently i went for my Inspection in one of the Inspection Centre.Everything was stock except for my electric Horn.First the idiotic Inspector(young punk) told me Everything is ok.. but ure Horn not passed,and ure signal light blinking fast.I told him yes mine is a electric horn which was already there when I bought the bike and i have taken out the wire for 1 of the horn out so it's not that loud compared to stock horns.and the signal light is really normal as daylight so maybe u must be mistaken.The A@# told me yes u've taken out one of the horns and yes it's not so loud as the stock but I see 2 horn on ure bike wat.. Doesn't make a difference whether u pluck out the wire or not wat..waht the F%^&....Then he told me ure signal lights must blink 60 times per minute.. ures blinking abit faster maybe 80times.. (I donno whether he really counted the blinking for a minute)Does he think the signal lights must blink as per according to ure heart rate or something..this is the 1st time I'm hearing some1 tell me it must blink 60 times per minute la..Aiyoyoyoyo.. so he told me don worry I won't take down ure no. plate to give ROV.. I close 1 eye.. ok.. get it rectified and come back again.. U FAIL!!!!

 

I was like boiling inside and just wanted to give him a good punch... but relax.. don worry..mai kanchiong..

 

I went to a nearby motorshop.. told him hey bring my bike for Inspection..

the mechanic brought it n in just 5 min he was back having my bike passed..

And he charged me an extra $30 on top of the inspection fee..

What is this.. why the double standard.. U mean there is corruption or some kindaf scandal involved in this is it..and believe me guys the bike was not rectified of any of the so called Inspection failed Items..

 

But when I went it was a fail.. when u go tru a bikeshop it can pass miraculously is it..Am I wrong in saying that out of the $30 extra money $15 go to bikeshop, $15 go to the inspector is it..

 

Anyways was really disappointed with what happened man.. moreover these Inspection Centres are LTA Approved ones too..

i got problem here.....i oredi renew my road tax last week at my bike shop....den they ask me to come 3 days later to collect it....so wad i get is the cert of insurance and the letter where i received to go and renew....so do i get a new one...??

er...tink yr post is quite confusing. so u got motorshop to renew road tax for u right?

 

after the shop renewed, then u get a new road tax disc paper to keep.

the letter from LTA that request u to renew road tax will not be returned to u. u dont need it anyway right?

 

did u ask them to renew insurance for u as well?

if yes, then u will get some paper indicating that u have coverage for yr bike for a specified time period.

if no, then why would u get an insurance cert?

the truth is there is a lot of discrepancies between LTA requirements versus inspection centre requirements.

 

certain items like sticker number plates, electro magnetic horns, etc different pple get different treatment from different inspectors at different inspection centres.

 

i myself did witness some of these under-table inspection arrangements. i.e. a bike was unloaded off a lorry and cleared 'inspection' after the inspector started the bike and put it thru only a lighting test.

 

thats when i realised thats why there r so many illegal modified vehicles that are running on the roads of SG w/o worrying abt annual inspections.

i kena mine cause they had problems detecting a working cashcard when i passed one of the ERP gantries. as such, they requested me to bring along the cashcard when i go for the inspection.

1st qns is: how old is yr bike? is it due for annual inspection?

 

rationale behind qns: getting a 2nd hand bike doesnt mean u have to send it for inspection immediately. annual inspection is only required if the bike is >3yrs old and to be done right before the bike's birthday. i.e. if birthday is on 1st Apr, u need to clear inspection before 31st Mar and renew road tax (assuming yr insurance covers u over this period of extension).

 

when yr road tax expires, u cant travel on the road.

i believe this has been covered in earlier posts.

generally, they check for:

 

vehicle frame + engine serial no.

exhaust sound & emmission standard

brakes efficiency

lightings (color + functionality)

tyres condition

wheel alignment

horn (may or may not check)

Anyone went inspection with aftermarket brake rotors?

 

The inspector mention that aftermarket brake rotors are not legal.. Really dun understand the rationale except that its not original

once i passed thru gantry without an iu. letter arrived ask me go inspection. i just sold the iu to someone..he registered to his bike already. soon my bike will scrap but not yet. what to say to lta uh? 2nd letter came already.. i still dun0 what to do. if not kena fine $500 sia.

iu unit is unique to the vehicle...ie.it identifies the vehicle...

better dont sell to anybody...

since the headlight is there, the inspector will expect it to light up both high and low beam.

My bike number plate is make in sticker.

As Inspection is due,kindly please advise is there any way that i can escape from the eye of the LTA inspection. I wish to clear the inspection.

 

Fyi, i also saw many bikes using sticker. you can private msg me if you got any motorshop to recommend. I do not mind paying extra in order to get the ceft.

 

I seek your kind advice.
