You were there too? I went in August. Returned from Tainan by HSR and went to Ximending Ah Zong mian xian with my Taiwanese colleague. Standing by the side of the road eating a bowl of noodles with a spoon. Gotta try the original Dintaifung in Taipei Xinyi where the hotel I will stay most frequently is located. On the contrary, it was not that fun standing in the middle of the streets slinging a laptop and a projector during summer clad in a layer of perspiration sucking the bowl of boiling noodles. I hope the next trip can be more sensitive to the weather.

winston can bike damper use as E.T.D?

What do you mean by ETD?

The Bike damper you referred to was steering damper?

ya can mod to fit become engine torque damper?

Architecturally it can fit so long the brackets are custom made for it.

The engine vibration is damped by the RTM parts supplied for the car. These RTM parts offer adequate vibration damping for it.

Check out the BOGE RTM catalogues for it. These parts are not solid rubber. They are hydraulically damped which offers better damping characteristics to the engine to chassis.

Damping effects are actually drawn on the Force velocity graph. The motorcycle steering damper have been specifically designed to offer a certain force (N) to meet a certain velocity (m/s). And nowadays most dampers are speed variable. The damping force for compression and rebound also differs even at the same speed. So it is even more difficult to replicate than constant velocity dampers. Engine vibration should have a similar gradient for both rebound and compression. So they should have the same curve. This already differs from axle shock absorbers. But maybe the same for bike steering dampers. Yet we are not sure about the damping characteristics. But I am sure engine damping definately demands more high speed than a steering damper which offers high damping even at low reciprocating speed.

Engines generate different vibrations according to the crankshaft RPM. So I don't really recommend a modified version. I'd rather buy a proper one.

You can surf the following links for parts. http://www.ingallseng.com/parts/ETD/stiffy.htm

ya i know where to get those.. juz trying some new stuffs whether can DIY. Hard to say if can convert, might be able to make some cash out of it

I inherited a book from my colleague on WRX modification which I think will help you. He used to drive a WRX years back after he returned from his masters in automotive engineering in Leeds. Perhaps I can loan it to you for duplication on some pages.

great... thanks :thumb:

This book covers on the aspect of upsidedown monotubes. Unsprung weight reduction. This enhances road speed performance. A properly and precisely damped shock absorber enhances road holding performance. Many people spent hordes of money on anti roll bar that increases weight, coil-overs without even knowing whats the meaning thinking it's some handling elixir, lowering the vehicle until the hump scraps the bodykit badly without knowing about the relationship it has with the vehicle geometry. But it can simply be solved with a proper upsidedown monotube. People don't pay for SACHS SRE or Bilstein PSS9 for only the looks. :D

I can let you duplicate some pages but I need to get the book back. Need it for my work.
