Just brought a XJR few days ago. Any old bird wanna share anything abt this bike with me? LIke maintenance? Common problems of the bike? Where to sell accessories. It seem very hard to find for eg.. Tank bra.

Coming to a year without major probs...accessories are hard to find, yes. I managed to get a crash bar at MotoWorld, but that's abt it.

How old is yr bike? How much for e crash bar?

U can get for about $60-$70 at Motoworld. My bike's coming to a year old.

Hw abt tank bra? And rear hugger and belly pan... etc.. Do u have any idea? Appreciate yr kind help as I'm very new to XJR. My consumption is only abt 250 for full tank. Think it is very high. Do u think so?

The accessories you mentioned are probably available only thro' Hong Leong, you can drop by their place to take a look at the catalogue. Take note that they'd prob have to order them in from Japan, and the shipping will cost you. Alternatively you can check with Motoworld, but I doubt they will bring in for you.

 

You mean your consumption is 250km for the entire 20 litres full tank? That's way too high. Mine can do about 360-380 before hitting reserve. That's an average of 20.8km/litre. If you're still running in your bike, do monitor your fuel consumption for a while longer, it usually gets better as the engine parts get worn in.

But mine is a 3yrs old bike tat I had brought. Do u think i need to do some kind of servicing? I'm not so familiar what to do?

 

I just pump up my bike full tank last nite at JB. Will try to monitor again. But if really my bike is still so thirsty, wat shld i do har?

Then perhaps you should bring it in for a full servicing to ensure everything's tip-top. You can't be too sure that whoever sold the bike to you had done a complete job of maintaining everything in proper condition. High fuel consumption can be due to any number of factors, from things like riding style, proper tire inflation to a tuned-out carburator. Could be a million and one things. Best to bring it in for a check.

yeah i tink XJR better, as in u get a much newer machine for a cheaper price, both is 400cc ma so i tink power wise not much difference haha... not so common also and looks good too~ if im not wrong, Ohlin shocks rite? haha...
