I have seen more activities in the forum the past week than any other time at the SBF Forum. I seen technical discussion too by our BIg Boys of 1300s & contribution by our new member, xjrIzaac23 too.

We had a good 2007 year with 3 successful meet-ups between August 07 & December 07.

With the new year 2008 here, this is the #4 Meet Up since August 07 & our first in 2008. Hopefully we can start a regular meet-ups this calender year. How about some tourings thrown in (any tour leaders here??) & some other local activities (eg Bowling Nite, Movie Night, Family Day etc). Since the group is rather small, i would need everyone support and participations for the activities above. More will be discuss in the upcoming Jan 08 Meet-Up.

hi ya all fellow xjr riders, i'm a newcomer to this SBF.. sorry to gate-crash this all-boys party (i c e word bro here n there but no sis).. but i really need some info/tips from u guys to help me decide whether to scrap or do up my '97 xjr4. had it since 2001 n coe is expiring next month. i'm trying to do some costing here to c if its worth it to re-do the bike. wld much appreciate if any of u cld enlighten me on the rough estimates for these works (and recommend some workshops dat wont rip me off:( ):

 

1. suspension

2. chain, sprocket

3. carburetor

4. tyres

5. revmeter/speedo (broke the outer casing during a fall in '03.. was quoted $900 for new, orig pair.. still functional so didnt replace since too ex oso)

6. engine overhaul

7. re-spray

 

Items 5-7 r optional on my list due to budget constraints for now.. aint particular abt new or original parts.. im ok wif 2nd-hand ones..

how about bitubo or showa. there are other shocks too...u still have the old ohlins ones? to rebuild abt $240.

bridestone 020/021 at $310(hard compound), continental attack at $240 (dual compound).

 

5. revmeter/speedo (broke the outer casing during a fall in '03.. was quoted $900 for new, orig pair.. still functional so didnt replace since too ex oso)...: I broke mine too but my mech did it up for only 120.... after an accident in 05, my mech did it for $500 & its still not at its best...Motoworld selling Speedo & RPM meters at $240...digital.

 

6. engine overhaul: Y an overhaul??

i did a top overhaul of piston set, valve setting, batt, rectifier, CDI, spark plugs & carbs service in 05 too...

7. re-spray: That never crossed my mind coz i sprayed my own bike..but may cost you around 150 to 300bucks depends on what yuo need more colour,more $$$...

i have two in mind: Yeow Motor at AMK did mine for $700. Another a SBF forumer who does airbrush. Ok ok lah.i have my helmet for sample on how he spray like..

i think its best that u go for a service first, like carbs, like EO, new spockets & chains, brake pads etc. i serviced my shocks for $240 in 05. since then steady oni the shocks no more leaks or softy either. After market shocks is betw 500-800...our onlins market price is abt 1.2k so dont chuck the shocks away, dont want?give me..i will send for service & keep for myself..i have a shop in mind. gone to see him done up my broken forks, dented rim, broken meters also in 05...good service propmt works..i pm u his numbers okies?

Dear XJRers,

 

I have seen more activities in the forum the past week than any other time at the SBF Forum. I seen technical discussion too by our Big Boys of 1300s & contribution by our newest member, xjrIzaac23 too.

We had a good 2007 year with 3 successful meet-ups between August 07 & December 07.

 

With the new year 2008 here, this is the #4 Meet Up since August 07 & our first in 2008. Hopefully we can start a regular meet-ups this calender year. How about some tourings thrown in (any tour leaders here??) & some other local activities (eg Bowling Nite, Movie Night, Family Day etc). Since the group is rather small, i would need everyone support and participations for the activities above. More will be discuss in the upcoming Jan 08 Meet-Up.

Wishing all Riders a Happy New Year & May 2008 bring more prosperity & better health this year!

Bros bull n izzac, thx once again for ur pointers n patient explanation.. i dun mind showing u my bike (am embarrassed by its sorry state tho cos i used it more for transport as compared to 2nd wife for some of u) but because I've applied for 1-yr lay up with LTA, I cant move it anywhere without getting written approval from traffic police / LTA (i cant remember which 1). so my job now wld b to ensure which wkshop can gimme e best value-for-$ for e servicing in order to pass inspection b4 i can renew e coe. once i've determined which workshop to use, den i'll hv to write in for approval to move e bike (meaning no riding - tow truck only)..if i wanna go by e rules dat is .. u r welcome to assess my bike condition at my punggol carpark where its been lying unused for 1 yr, if u dun mind e travelling.. meanwhile, i'll go over all ur pointers wif my hubby.. will call or sms u if i hv further questions.. n no, im not scared of any BUAYAs.. only lizards hehe
