Ha ha.

My other observation about engine oil is, some engine oil as you put on the mileage, its get smoother and some feel crap.

Your engine oil should disappear from the observation window when your engine is running, that means the oil is circulating.

If engine oil still there, I believe the oil passage is clogged.

My limited knowledge on this lah..

u r right but s4 n bandit e circulate at sump.unlike xjr it circulates thru radiator and engine cooling system too..

hehehe...

now my gear shaft covers leak oil leh...ask leow need to overhaul..

chialat..atleast 1200sgd leh...mampos...

hope dat strike d4 for this service..buahaha

practically no need change spark plug every eo change coz it can last at least 3 years or minimum 10000km or which ever comes first..

many senior citizen riders ride at 5000km and change(keep privious ones for washing to reuse)

What?! Your spark plug lasts you 3 years? It's abit hard for me to phantom at this point but I'll take your word for it.

Sorry, never owned an in-line 4 before.

I used to had to change my plug at every oil change and oil filter at every 2nd oil change. Single piston bike.

for single piston bike, i think the spark plugs often need replacement.

I change mine only if i have to, if not, i dont. My used my spark plugs for about 1 year before being asked to change by a lousy dumbass mech....

That mech ruined my bike & put me thru hell!

Never going back there again...

Otherthan that, your in-line XJR needs not new spark plugs at every oil change...waste $$ leh like that!

My friend went to Yuh Loong to check out the prices recently

for XJR 400.

He told me the price range is between 7-8k for all XJRs.

Mostly FX-FY plates.

Isnt it a bit too ex compared to Excelcycle's FW plate XJR ($4.5K)?

Speed has never killed anyone.

message was passed down lah bro..i have my own sources lah...good if you know its ex lah...the mech there is ultimately against mods...2 good mechs commendable is maybe planet(ubi) or sin boon(yishun)price also reasonable...original sprockets n chain for xjr is italian brand and many charge 220-240..sin boon/ahboy price is 120-140..original some more..sin boon has served many big bikes and comments r also superb..honestly sin boon is where i learnt that xjr use s4 versS knn air filter..

some plug n play parts like rectifier, speedo sensor all i can diy..just changed my carb rubber joint also i diy...learn and apply mah...if dismantling carb or engine internal dont say lah..really must let expert do lah...parts can easily get from ah boy..if eo i dont want to get caught throw used oil anyhow so i send to shop to do lah...

Look at this way bro, I bought my FY plate in 2004 for S$8.5K @ Albert Motors.

Another new rider, Leon, bought his FW at also Albert Motor in Jan 09 @ S$3.8K after nego.

i think that say alot for the prices that he offers.

But try bargaining.

He(Steven, Yuh Loong)once qouted 7k for a old Fighting Spirit XJR, saying that the renewal of COE as a reason for a hefty price.

You seems to really like this Yamaha XJR. I read that u been looking around for it. That is impressive. :thumb: Do not settle for any other bike to salivate ur XJR hunger...Continue to look around for it, you will never know. If I hear anything, I let u know via PM.

Initially, I wanted DRZ. But then again, I've been wanting to travel up north.

On a motard bike, it's not really sensible. Thus my hunger for XJR.:slurp:

Might be dropping by Albert Motors soon to recce abit.

Furthermore, Kumar (Albert Motors) is a trustworthy man.

The last time I saw Albert Motors & Kumar, was in December 08. Then he had one black FW XJR which is now sold to another new XJRer, Leon.

Keep your eyes peeled bro...Dont let-up. U never know bro! :thumb:

Interestingly I never got to meet Kumar, only dealt with a bigger bloke called Thomas, pretty friendly guy no less.

Anycase, there was this guy by the name of Tommy(97291321) who I presume is still trying to sell his XJR400R. Same as mine, going for 3.8k

You should have a word with him!

Bro, I'm a new member.

I've been quietly reading the XJR thread since joining. Why XJR? Too many Super 4s I guess. Been a long, long while since I rode a bike.

So sorry - have throw a wet blanket on you. I bought Tommy's bike in January. So far the bike's not totally bad except I had to quickly change the rear brake pads and there seems to be a leak at the alternator side of the engine. Not sure if its serious. Cannot see what it is. Hope its not a crack. I'm getting the bike checked out this week and have it serviced/tuned.
