anyone encounter of the engine oil drain plug screw, where you screw into the engine, the thread got worn out?

my bike is only 3 years old. And the bikeshop say is due to over tightening.

All this while i have been replacing engine oil at the same shop.

need to change the below engine cover and it cost $160.

does it really get worn out? my bike is only 3 years old.

is like indirectly telling me, my engineer here over tighten your screw.

Or is it part of wear and tear maintenance? have never heard of pple saying about changing the below engine.

Someone screwed your bolt at an off set angle!..its has been "Cross threaded" in your sump housing thread hole.:sian:

Guys, what do you think is wrong my Spec III.

#1. Shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and then to 3rd gear at 2,000 rpm is smooth.

It shifts so smooth and almost noiseless at 2,000 rpm; I have no problem at all.

But if I shift from 1st to 2nd and then to 3rd gear at 2,500 to 3,000 rpm and higher rpms I hear a very loud “thuck” sound.

The “thuck” sound is loudest when I am shifting from 1st to 2nd gear.

If I shift from 1st to 2nd gear at higher rpm say 4,500 rpm it won’t even engage to 2nd gear, it will just stay at neutral.

If I force to go to 2nd gear at this stage I will hear crackling sound as if I am not fully pressing the clutch.

But I am pressing the clutch lever at 100%, so I wait until my rpm goes down to 2,500 rpm then I shift to 2nd gear.

Shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear there is also a “thuck” sound at 3,000 rpm and higher rpms, but not as loud as compared to shifting from 1st to 2nd gear on the same high rpms.

Shifting from 3rd to 4th then to 5ht and then to 6th gear there is “NO PROBLEM” at all rpms even at 5,000 or 6,000 rpm it is very smooth shifting and almost no sound.

#2. On idle at neutral I can hear a sound somehow coming from inside the right side of engine where the clutch cable is.

When I press the clutch levers slowly from 50% to pressing it at 100% the noise slowly disappears.

But when I release the clutch levers the noise is there again.

It’s like a tiny a tiny crackling sound.

Any ideas on the problem of Spec III?

Quite normal but if its too uncomfortable..it may just noe be right oso.

Readjust your clutch and eo may be too thinn. Use a higher grade eo. Those off the shelf branded eo with high values "W" sometime does not work either. Do your own eo blending.

Ah Pek u are freelance mechanic? U only do jobs for close friends? I need to install gear indicator. The type that plugs in directly to the diagnostic system connector and lets it read directly from the bikes ECU. U have? If not I will go Motoworld. Can u leave your contact number or email or msn?

Not freelance lah..play_play when I'm free to help make S4 a better bike to ride. Sorry..I dunno about this plug and play thingy you mentioned here leh.

Thank you for your quick reply AhPek!

Another question to:

I will have my Engine Oil changed this Monday.

I already bought 4 liters of Engine Oil and 1 new Oil filter.

How much Engine Oil will I need for a Spec III if I will also change the oil filter?

The manual says 3.2 liters of engine oil, is that correct?

Because some of my friends say 3.0 liters is enough.

Less eo as recommended by .2 is ok especially when you uses high "W" grade oil especially if you add viscosity enhancer as it would 'expand' when it breaks down or thin out. Less eo oso gives you leass oil pressure at high rpm thrashing.

Following what the manual recommended is excellent for the average Joe day to day bike usage. Personally myself, I would use less .2 litre if I have my crank case plug up. If your crank case allows you to install breather type outlet especially if its a non-Vtec..it doesn't matter..you can have addition .2 on top of your recommended as there would not be any accumulated eo pressure at high rpm..it 'bleeds' off thru the hose.

Guys, just wanted to ask if its worth it to change the end can of a Spec III.

I am planning to change mine next month.

Which will give a more better (good loud noisy) sound in bolt-on end can?

Yoshimura Fire Spec or the Scorpion Carbon Fiber?

In my country we do not really have a restriction on the noise of the pipe.

Thanks in advance guys!

I really do not have an experience about this, although I have a seen a few videos from youtube, but it's really better to hear opinions from actual people who have installed the said end cans I have mentioned earlier.

Ah Pek is correct.......

this is not 'wear and tear' , is mechanic's care less...........

.....cos, it's other people's property...............

even spark plug got this danger...........

best is join the DIY session,...........protect your own property.....

i could not recommend any bike shop to service..............cos i do every servicing and parts replaced .......

wow no restrictions on noise of pipe i would get nassert or 2bro pipe.. but comparing the 2 i would get yoshi..

Have you ever tot of asking "other mech" beside "my mech"?

Nope, I do not run all over workshops to seek for diagnostics. But maybe you can advise what could went wrong with this fluctuation of idling rpm. :cheeky:

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

currently i'm using BT021... it is very very lasting... 20000km and counting...

but after i change my front to a 2nd hand Sportec M3, i find that is comparable to (BT021 - Sport Touring tyre) Grip, cornering... i have more faith in Sportec M3...

Guys, i am having a problem wif my throttle

Just now after i start my superfour engine and found out that the throttle tension is gone.

could it be the cable broke in the carburator or the throttle grip?

is that something i can repair on my own?

Posted

got poked then repaired a few times already? i advise you to change it..

crashbars are better.. even a salesperson who's shop have sliders also sliders not too useful.. not say useless lah.. but i think crashbars offer more protection.

just my 2 cents worth.

if your country got no restrictions, i would recommend the Scorpion.. use it without the baffle..
