Sometimes when I start to move off,

when I open throttle, bike like no power like that

the power start to kick in after a few seconds,

why?

Need to service and tune the carburator?

Time to check your throttle push/pull slacl..or your throttle cable may be faulty. Hope your biting point for the clutch cable is properly adjusted too. No..nothing to do with tunning and carbs.

Type of coolant really doesn't matter. Those expensive ones are just a GREAT waste 0f $s. I suspected that there are still lots of 'air pocket in the water jacket areas when they did the coolant refilled. It takes quite awhile to filled full the 18 litres needed especilly running on the engine and pressure to help occuppied the full coolant path. These usually ahppened when the thermostat is not open yet while topping up.

What you can do now is to fill your reservoir coolant tank half mark above the "Full" level as there may not be enough of coolant to filled up all. Coolant coming out of the overflow tube is ok..its meant to be when the coolant over boils. But this should not happened if the level is correct at the level between the low and high level markers. If this is the case, could be thermostat problem since you just change the pump..provided the pump is not damag while during installation.

Also be sure your coolant is not mix with tap water..mototiam very famous for getting water just from the tap.

hi Ah pek, u have been imparting alot of the knowledge to new riders like me and the fellow forumers here. Thank you very much.

Would like to enquire where can i get engine ice? (for coolant ) how to determine when u need to top up?cuz i feel that the right leg always feels quite hot after a while.

is it when the "gauge" below the rider seat is at the lower mark?

what is ur recommended type of EO?

wah since your post is directed at ah pek only then i think i shouldnt answer at all.. lol.. :cheeky:

ah pek doesnt use engine ice.. but you can get them at many motorshops.. the reserve coolant tank is at the right side of your bike.. open the side cover to see if there's enough..

ah pek have self blended EO for his usage on his bike..

ah pek can help you with all of the above..

brake pad there are many brands, ebc, ferodo, goldfren, mfizz etc.. i use ferodo and i find it quite ok...

Go to Esso, get DIAX 500ml coolant (concentrated), its less than $6..then go NTUC buy 1.5 litre "Pure" or "Distilled water"..less than a $..you got the cheapest. Mixed the two..you have exactly 2 litre..S4 empty coolant system requires only 1.8L.

Additional to Dragonforce help on answering the question..

Brake pad any can lah for day to day use. If you got xtra $s..of cost there are better ones but do you really need it for its usage like for racing purpose etc. Myself is using just normal one costing $28 pper set only.

Yes..should try my eo :thumb:

Too hot is no good..may be should do a coolant change as you may not know when was the last time previous owner does it. Careful of branded coolant..there are repacked imitation one out side. Try mine if you want...I have even better ones now.

What needle?

no.. but i know some1 who sold other bike to a msian staying at KL.. if the procedure is what you want to find out, the msian came all the way down and pay the seller.. proceed to lta to deregister the bike and find a way to transport the bike back to KL.

Ah pek,

Ask u....

My legs feel hot at the tank area everytime i went for a long distance journey.....

Is it due cos of the coolen system?

But after i check the water level seems to be ok....

Any other reasons contribute to tis?

It is bound to get hot but what cools it further beide what a water cooling systen bike does to cool it oso depend on the speed you are rideing. The faster you go, the more air rush against the cooling tubinbgs in the radiator to take away the heat from the coolant.

Good eo oso plays a great part. If there is good lubrication..there are less heat as there are less friction in your gear box and your piston cyclinder walls. Lubricating is one thing and viscosity and other. They are both different in ihe roles they play. X-1R is your only best option to take away friction, which generates heat and rob of power performance.:sian:

If the coolant and eo does not suit your style of riding, its recommended that you change the eo and coolant type.

So for the coolen, is there any period or expiry date where we need to flush n top up to a new one? Once a yr?

So far, I have yet to hear of Coolant having expiry date..may be there is but I doubt it has. If you are referring to the usage of coolant in your bike is there a period of time in usage your should change, I will say no. I know mototiam mech would tell you 6, 12..whatever the month and need to be change. I do not know what factors is it base on but whatever they say, its BS to me.

Its just a hallow channel inside (call water jacket) your engine block and runs thru transport tubings to and fro back from radiator. The intense heat either evaporate the coolant content or leak out and when level gets low, we just have to replenish and each replenishment rings about new content into the coolant system..so, do you thing there is an expiry for it?

However, if this jokers pull in tap water, mineral or whatever beside deionsed or distilled water, yes..there will be rust formulating. This is when you find your coolant brownish in colour. Rust starts from the radiator tubing and get carried away under flow pressure and get stuck along the sticky surface of the rubber hose inner tubing. This in turn, the hoses get 'constricted' and the diameter becomes smaller thus jeopardised the correct design for "flow volume"..and become worst when heat and pressure build up as you ride longer. Loose rust flowing around in the cycle oso act as "abrassive" in motion and can damage your pump impeller blade till the blades breaks off.

Sorry for being long winded, tot it best you know why and how rather than just a straight answer that coolant need not be replace by bi-monthly or 6 monthly or yearly...unless rust, sediments from wear and tear due to rust and improper coolant ratio content usage. Just remember..use deionsed or distilled water and there is no 'expiry' date.

Forget about hype in advertisement claims of how good a coolant is, it all started with the car industries where days motobike was never watercool. I recommend you get concentrated "active" type and do your own premix to suit your need and riding style. That's what I do. if you need and can DIY, can always help you to use the right stuff.:sian:

Hi all,

I'm riding a Super4 Spec 1 now.

I wish to change my riding posture to slightly more straight up.

Now if i sit straight up, my elbows are totally locked holding to the handlebar.

So my question is...

1) Will changing to an aftermarket handlebar help to change my riding posture?

2) Will there be any handling problems with aftermarket handlebars?

(I'm aware that most aftermarket handlebars are slightly wider... but i think i can live with that in exchange for a more upright riding posture.)

All replies are appreciated!

thanks.
