I wish to change my riding posture to slightly more straight up.

That's fine.

Now if i sit straight up, my elbows are totally locked holding to the handlebar.

That's not right and unsafe..much with driving, you have to have some elbow bending.

So my question is...

1) Will changing to an aftermarket handlebar help to change my riding posture?

Yes and no.

2) Will there be any handling problems with aftermarket handlebars?

Yes and no.

(I'm aware that most aftermarket handlebars are slightly wider... but i think i can live with that in exchange for a more upright riding posture.)

Recommendation..get one that closes fit the width of your bike..there's is a reason its design that way and comes with the bike. Try releasing the handle bar clamps and rotate the handle bar direction that suit you first. In your case, it sound more like bringing it 'forward closer' to you.

Other option is to get a handle bar "riser"...not cheap though.:sian:

Thank Ah Pek for your reply.

Hi there, I need some help in pinpointing the problem. Would appreciate any input.

Bike: Spec 1

Vtec: 7K rpm

Problem: When rpm approaches 7K (Vtec), the engine sound starts becoming very rough. There is also some resistance in crossing over the 7K. Engine doesn't respond to normal throttle input; I have to really open the throttle to push the engine to open the Vtec.

This is a fairly recent problem (2 weeks). I got this bike in March. I do not know if the previous owner had done any servicing of the carbs recently.

Would like to know if this is something that can be DIY or do I have to bring the bike to the shop? And if shop, can recommend a good bike shop? Good as in can do the job properly.

Thank you.

You got tap water inside now..better drain and replenished with proper coolant. Your coolant boiled...when was the last time you did your coolant changed and what was used..mixture by mototiam?

Do you know how to ground your fan to check it? If not, pm me.

You amy have problem with thermostat, the fan or coolant pump..or more then one of this. Did your temp lights comes on before the coolant spilled?

If your eo is good, should be at 100 or so at 6k rpm generally.

my radiator cap is new and my coolent is not leaking from the main there. its from the tube from the reserve reservoir.

This is okay where the leak comes from as its the overflow tube from the reserve tank. However it shouldn't have boiled till such a stituation..unless u filled it up too full or a bad theromstat or coolant pump problem. The fan should have turn on by then.

DIY - take off your tank and check the status of your pair of throttle cable..could be almost broken at the point where its link to the carbs actuator. If not, try cleaning your air filter and carbs ($25-$30).

Oh okay. Cause its hard for me to maintain 100 km/h as my rpm will over 6 and my vtec will be opened. Shall try changing eo and see again cause currently my eo is semi syn. Anyway thanks ah pek and Refugee for your reply.

correct me if i am wrong, there's a thermostat to sense the heat so when your bike is hot it will auto on.. unless you remove that then it will be on all the time..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.
