Ok, I just got my stock DRZ fuel consumption report: 30km/liter, it hits reserve at around 220km.

It's pretty good compared to my another bike -- honda wave whereas the fc is around 40km/l. :)

hmmm... stock should be better than that..

my previous FC at 30-32KM/L was using the following:

  • Yoshi FS
  • JD Jettting
  • BMC filter
  • Esso 95

not sure if stock bike is running rich or lean..

maybe try gentle throttling for better FC..

do update your touring FC??

Hmm...interested to get one. But what if the bike fall? the fuel tank broken so how? Since the shroud contain fuel as well?

How much is the capacity of this fuel tank (below $400)?

Thanks.

Capacity is 4 US Gal about 15 litres, 50% more than the stock tank. Imho, anything bigger will be to too heavy and bulky. Able to use Acerbis lockable fuel cap too.

Polyethylene tanks are strong and durable compare to the original furthermore no corrossion or rust. If your bike fall flat on a flat ground most likely nothing will happen, skid and fall tank will have some scratches only

Have these polythylene tank on my old ride (DR650) for 10+ years

One thing to note, don't waste $ on having sticker on these tank as they may not last as the petrol will 'breathe' thru the tank and will not stick well after sometime.

Cheers,

my 30km/l fc is based on City cruise speed (80 - 90 km/h on express way, 60km/h on normal road).

I will update my touring FC after my Cameron trip. (around 110km/h)...

still thinking very hard how to solve the seat comfort problem...

Thank you for the feedback, so this tank is quite "durable". It's a pity that I cannot paste nice sticker on the tank. I think I am better off without installing this tank bah...

~Yatan. Surely kenna poisoned after meeting the guys! I've been poisoned even before I bought mine! =p Personally I feel it's ok to 'do up' your ride since the market value of 2/Hs are still relatively high. Even better if you're gonna ride it for a good number of years.. Have a safe trip up north!

there's no S model in SG.. all the offroad models you see are actually E models.

comparing SM and E model, same engine..

But the cams and carb is different, compression ratio also different..

E model has higher compression.

I mean as in isit better??

higher compression gives more power, but needs to run on higher octane petrol..

MCCT is recommended for all DRZ..

E model had the 3X3 mod already, open up the seat and you will know why..

So much said on the MCCT recommemdation but the one important point need to emphasize is that you need a good mechanic (someone who know what he is doing) to adjust it if not more harm than good.

Imho, it is not necessary for those who use the bike just to commute around and do not usually have aggressive throttle movement. Less one item to change and maintain as the the factory ACCT will be good enough.

it's a plug and play.. may just need to adjust your air/fuel screw a bit, that's all..

try Unique, their price is good..

Hey guys,

Been reading the threads and noted that the fuel tank is a 10 + 2 litres.

However, was riding to work today, then suddently lose power then quickly change to Reserve. Only clock 150km. Hence, did my maths and thot with a 10L tank, would clock till about 300km, before i head for petrol.

Did another search on yahoo and some forums reporting 7 + 2 litres tank.

Clarifications needed. My owners manuel is in Jap, hence no help there.

Thanks folks :)
