hah, why fuss with a 1800cc when nights riding the Vulcan 2000cc..

I mean, some might think of 1800cc as big but when I think of nights, his is humongous!

I think you are switching to a different channel. We are talking about VTX18 and M109. Not about bigger and higher cc ! :D

When GiantValk stated "big bore short stroke" and killing looks, it can tell certain characteristic of the engine.

Besides, I think this is the only matric bike that offers 240 rear straight from factory. Cool stuff. :thumb:

ahhh, icic...

Like comparison btwn Yamaha Warrior, Honda's VTX, Suzuki's M109 & HD's V-Rod

Had the fortune of seeing the Suzuki M109R while I was in US last month... its a real looker!

Neway, I believe the Suzuki engineers classify the M109R as a Sport Cruiser, while the VTX & Vulcan are more in the lines of Classic Cruisers...

Saw the VTX1800 in person at Universal. It was solid-looking, but M109 looks better. There are plenty of real world close-up shots on http://www.ibike.com.hk. In fact, that is an excellent bike forum, with plenty of real-world reviews, big bikes and small. In Chinese though.

Read from some Jap bike mags that this IS the bike with the BIGGEST bore to date. So, compared to VTX18, bigger bore, shorter stroke, should translate to higher power output, faster speed. Specs have not been disclosed, I think.

But then I think a stock reverse would be most welcomed.

To me...

M109 -> Looks cool & powerful, but not something you might wanna go touring with, altho it can be done.

VTX1800 -> Might not have that sharp edges or i-will-beat-you-on-the-straights looks but it has been tested and proven to be a comfortable and reliable tourer 2-up.

I guess it all depends on what you want your bikes for...

There's some reviews on the M109, and for the most part, reviews point to a good bike.

Looks wise though, you either love it, or hate it. Me? well, i guess all i can say is that i don't love it. But it would be nice to see one on the roads here. If for nothing else, but to add diversity to the big bore cruiser scene in Singapore, which to date tends to be rather one dimensional.

I think the Suzuki M109R looks solid, it looks close to the harley v-rod and i bet there will be alot of fans for this bike, should it come to SG, but then again...have to see the price hehe.....:cheeky:

i believe the smaller cc models of the Boulevard series have already arrived in Singapore. Who knows, maybe the Boulevard 800 will become really popular here.

Right now I must say, these bikes are huge, even bikes like the vulcan 16. Much bigger than a RK or EGlide, though a non-biker would find it impossible to believe. I almost could not believe the first time also.

I'd say the price would match the VTX, maybe a bit more...can always compare the prices on the US websites.

Hi there,

Anyone knows the cost of the M109 here?

Do cruisers in singapore enjoy lower insurance premiums?

BTW what is the engine capacity.

1) Don't think the M109R is available in Singapore yet.

2) Lower insurance premiums as compared to???

3) The M109R is approximately 1800cc

I just saw this month's copy of MotorcycleCruiser magazine. There's a comparo between the M109, the Vulcan 2000 classic, Roadliner, and the VTX 1800F.

Will try to buy a copy of the mag next week, and keep you guys updated.

Saw a pearl white M109R in the "flesh" last night whilst walking home for dinner. Sorry no photos - don't want to look like a tourist snapping away. It looks really nice from the back, i guess due to the big tire. But i gotta say, from the side it doesn't look all that impressive.

I saw a few Warriors last week. One at the dealership and a couple on the road. Now that is a mean looking bike.

Should have taken some pictures. We are not going to see them here.

1) Yeap. You are right and don't think it will show up any sooner unless someone is willing to spend a large sum of money to parallel import the bike in.

2) Probably lower insurance compare to sport bike, but with the huge engine capacity differences, the insurance may sum up the same if not still more than sport bike insurance in class 2 range especially when there is only going to be one piece running on the road.

3) It is 1783cc to be exact and the bike had just gotten itself the best value motorcycle award for 2006.

Looks wise, it'll still be the Boulevard. Quality wise, it'll be the vtx, for good quality and service, it'll be the Roadliner. Vulcan....sigh.....

Oh my! What's up with the sigh when you comes to Vulcan?

Sorry i don't see the point. How would a picture that i take look better or any different, from photos of the 109 that you'll find on the web or in a magazine?

The pictures in the magazine or website may not be the same as the real bike in the showroom. Some things may not be the same such as the paintwork, seat design, reflectors, etc.. due to publication delays.

So the showroom end up with the later stuff than the magazines.

Trust me, photos taken for magazines and websites are typically nicer than ones taken on the street. I could go into details on this, but i'd rather not lest we go off topic even more. For example, it had a beautiful pearl white coat of paint on it, but you'd never be able to tell from a photo. Besides it was at night, so it'll definately look like shyte in the photo.

So i still don't see the point taking a photo of the bike, or posing with the bike in for that matter. I actually find that posing with bikes in a "look-at-me-standing-next-to-the-rare-bike" thing a bit lame - but that's just me.

That said, it's time to move back to the topic. I just bought the mag with the comparo between the big cruisers. Been trying to find a copy of the artical online, but i can't. So i'll try to distill some of the key points from it and post it here soon.

Because there's something called Photoshop.

With the amount of effort put in (especially when its not your own bike), might as well look at the pictures in the magazine.
