hello everyone.. i own a sp.. which i have diffculties starting in the morning.. esp when i try to start it after a few days since i last rode it. intially the mechanic told me it might be the spark plug. changed the plugs but still the same.. i can kick hundred times and the bike still wont start.. feeling very sianz of the bike liao... the onli way to start it is to pushstart it till it reaches 3000rpm which i am ored dripping with sweat.. wad can be the possible reasons?

for 2 stroke .. if its kick start ..

u no need to worry abt batt, rectifer problem ...

cos kick start dun involve electrical...

how about change to a better spark plug ...

try pulling choke ...

wash carb and do tuning

Posted

dun pull trottle so much

a little will do

i use to have this problem ..

then its because i pull throttle a lot

Posted

eh.. tried choke ?

might be also overflow, kick the kickstart but not all the way.. just make the pressure there. then kick the kickstart , maybe throttle a little.

another way would be, however need at least 1 more person to be with u.

go up to gear 2.. ask that person to push you to gear 2 speed, then remove clutch and kickstart at the same time.

Posted

anyway.. 1 person can push start ...

using gear 2 to push start is much safer...

when u slowly release clutch .. u can feel that the engine is alive...

den blip the throttle slightly .. den clutch back ..

Jose how u kick start ur bike ???

u no need to use ur leg to support the bike and kick start ??

even u got a friend helping u pushing at gear 2 speed ...

how u gonna kick start at the same time ??

ur supporting leg put where??

Posted

eh.. maybe i did not phrase it probably..

u sit on your bike as normal, both your leg will be on the kata..

your friend push you from the back.. till a certain speed.

a slight slope is ideal.. during the pushing, do a kickstart.

that's what i have tried. and works. my brother and friends all knew about this method..

thought it was quite normal ? or is it the same method as you describe your gear 2 push start method ? just that we describe differently ?

Posted

but how u going to kick start when u on the move ????

ok.. even if u noramlly kick start,

u need to lean ur bike to ur left .. and ur left leg will support the weight.. den u kick start..

so since if on the move ... dun tell me u try to lean left and den do a quicky to kick start ...

ur whole body weight is going to be shifted to ur right. And its impossible to control the bike by then .. and u will be falling ...

Posted

most probably overflow lah.. last time i also got this problem..

my friend taught me to switch off everything then kick for ten times... then on again and on choke and kick start again... totally not touching the throttle at all, after that should be able to start liao...

but 2b bikes must refrain from pulling the throttle as much as you can... if not sure flood the carbrator one..

Posted

... actually u off anything also the same ..

cos since the petrol is in the tube entering the carb already... u off, the petrol also inside carb..

the best method is to off engine... den lean right side... for like 5 sec or more... den after tat do 3 times kick start or so ..

den on engine .. kick start again.. this method is to clear over flow.

Pulling of choke is to help on cold weather..

when bike keeps dying in the morning ..

pulling of choke, helps better starting of engine..

The choke is built for a reason ..

anyway...

Jose:

do u know tat when u kick start, the piston is actually moving up and down .

so when u push starting ur bike .. u first clutch in .. den release clutch slowly..

upon releasing clutch.. ur piston actually move up and down..

so tats how push start works.. making ur piston work and generate power..

since u already push start... den ur bike already moving upon releasing clutch ... ur piston is moving ... by kick starting on the move.. i think u are preparing for piston jam .. damaging ur kick start roller.. and things inside the kick start housing.

its like u start ur bike normally ... its running .. den u try kick start ...

the moment u try to kick start..u hear the ka ka ka ka sound .. like dry clutch sound .. the concept is there..

so do not try to do special stun on ur bike.

for a kick start bike like sp ...

the worrying part is Spark plug. if ur spark plug is faulty.. its very hard to start bike ..

u need not worry abt electrical.. as kick start no need electricity.

Posted

hmm.. maybe it will damage the parts..

but then it's a good method to use if , u really can't start your bike in any way u tried..

this method i tried before and works... my brothers and friends all have used this method before.

hi all.. thanks for the advice..... finally found out the prob... its the battery.. hard to believe how a kickstart bike need the batt power to start... the mechanic removed everything and showed me.. the batt was old and weak...when u kick.. got no spark from the plug... but when changed to new battery.. the spark came and the bike started.. now i try to off the fuel tap when the bike is off.. this way .. i seldom experience failure to start.. except in the morning when i still need to kick abt 10-15 times before it starts.. but i think this is normal... according to mechanic..sp hv 2 models.. one rely on batt to start while the other dun .. mine relies on the batt

hello bike ppl !

1. close your gasoline"-plug"

2. the next morning open your gasoline"-plug"

3. turn key

4. kick down kickstarter gently, so that the pressure bilds up nicely !

5. open choke

6. kick the hell out of the kickstarter :cheeky:

I got a beautiful TZM and mostly the engine starts about the third or fourth time. But I really have to kick the sh*t out of the thing.

PS: In Singapore the engine is not "cold" in the mornings. The engine being cold in the morning is a problem in Germany for example in winter times.

i used to have this problem. try kick down ONE time and don't use pumping action. if use pumping action, the fuel will overflow causing spark plug to be moist

hi, i own a sp too.. mine is a bit problematic..i last did my servicing bout end august and since i don't ride everyday, is it a must to start the bike daily? i also kickstart my bike til leg pain sometimes and if i don't pull the choke, most of the time the bike can't start..i changed the battery last servicing..btw, how often is the servicing even if i don't ride everyday??

recently, i accidentely dropped my bike on the right side and when i picked it up again there was some petrol on the floor, is this a case of a leaking tank? when it's upright no leaks is apparent, also this caused my balancer to be crooked so i tried adjusting it back then it came off! and i can't put it back again..the rubber part in the handle came off to and there was no way i could put it back, cuz if i remember correctly the balancer does not come with the rubber part when it was 1st installed. and the other handle balancer also loosened so i took it out but can't put it back also( think the nut is stuck inside). can still ride without the balancer right?

this is my 1st bike..please help!! :help:
