So, the morale of the story is?

Just buy a Ducati :)

But then again, keep a ducati long enough you would have spent enough to buy a Ferrari, but keep a Ferrari long enough you end up spending enough to buy Italy, but looking at the way the euro has been going, maybe not :)

Well, you're right about buying a Ducati. But I'd very much prefer the Aprilia RSV4 or the older RSV1000. heh

not so young man, when I enquired about the costs of the RSV4, I thought it was decent compared to the 1198s.

then I find out that the insurance is like 4k p.a.!?!?!

and Im like 47?

Im not sure what the excess is like but on a return visit, they just placed orders for a guy who low sided. One side fairing, brake lever and pedals, balancers and indicators among other small bits, amounting to over 5gs.

Oh La La........:o

DIY Session 08 August 2010 1500hrs - 1900hrs

Void deck of

Blk 21 Joo Seng Road

Singapore 360021

Bring rags, cleaning solvents, and tools. It will be S$50 if you wish to use any of mine.

Over the many years I have conducted DIY very few have the initiative to offer to pay for the solvents they use, tools they damage or accidentally bring home, and other items they have helped themselves to.

The S$50 is not for profit. It's just a penalty to discourage people from constantly taking advantage of my hospitality.

count me in for the DIY!

would try to get everything mentioned.

and will try to see what i missed out on, that you guys have, and bring it on the next session. =)

If you don't mind 06 version I know of a very good deal. Almost new bike, only 8000km on the odometer, going for $6,500 full cash.

Very good buy. I'm saving up to buy this bike but if you want you can have it. Cos if I do buy it, it will be my 3rd Aprilia RS125. Then I'll have the trinity collection - Replica, Y2K, and 06. hahaha...

Dun mind me asking, why have you not tot of rs250?

8000km for 6.5k, is a steal!! Worth it, but 3 rs125 at the same time. ermm..??

I belong to the old school replica... If i buy again, it will be my third time buying rs125, I fall in love with Replica. 1st one I crash it in 1999. 2rd one I sold off for a very attractive price. The final one I will keep.... "for memories"

That would require me to learn a new engine inside out all over again. I guess I'm getting lazy. I've spent too long learning about and fixing the RS125, I'm not going to tinker with the RS250 for the next 10 years.

I can finish an overhaul for the RS125 in 6 hours. It'll probably take me 12 hours for the RS250... :faint:

Also, I'm not going to spend the equivalent of 2 Ducatis on my RS125s.

I am saving up for the RSV4 or RSV1000.

I still don't understand why you would sell off a rare bike you own, of which is probably be in fairly good condition, when you can afford to keep it, and now try to re-acquire one of which its condition you'd know nothing about.

i think all RS riders would agree that a Stock RS is much much more reliable then a modified RS...

Yes, we all agree.

But this applies only to engine mods, like changing of the port timings, lightening of drivetrain, flywheel, and ignition.

Any other aftermarket parts are always better than stock - the exhaust, front and rear suspension, brake systems, and reduction of unsprung weight.

To make a long story short, stock engine = reliable and durable; modified engine = shorter lifespan and less reliability.

For anything else, it's all good.
