I totally agree to you bro. If mechanic tune at their own preference, it's us who feel the pain coz we're the one riding it! I heard about this guy called meng tong from sporting motors. He's specialist in Aprilia bikes. Anyone have ties with him? Thought of trying my luck on him though. haha

 

Can I guess you heard about this from the place you bought your bike??? Haha. Anyway, it's good you're checking here to clarify.

 

I'm not too sure of his experience in diagnosing problems with the RS125 and his tuning skills. I've heard he's good, but not excellent, albeit his workmanship is said to be top notch. He is an Aprilia specialist, but I think for the class 2 bikes. RSV, RSV4. :)

 

Alot of my friends highly recommend him for class 2 bikes though. They've been patronising him since he was at Looi's.

 

If you need want a mechanic who's very experienced with the RS125, i suggest you try Ah Seng at 37 motoring, or David at Teck Thye. If you've taken the effort to read some pages, you should be able to know which shop most Aprilians go to sort out their issues. :)

Bro!! That was really helpful! :) I have no plans to use this bike for track or so ever. But im a speed addict! haha. Heard a stock aprilia will go roughly 160km/hr? What if i get a polini kit or maybe italkit(Slightly lower than polini i guess? ) ? Any suggestion? Sorry to ask alot of questions. My previous bike was tzm and i hella mod it. On a constant highway, i will always ride at above 100km/hr xD

the very reason many track riders switch to other brands...

pity as i rate the GP PRO/GP TECH gloves and SuperTech R boots the best in the business and im still using them..buy direct from the distributor and not even thru resellers.u never know what u in for...

Enlighten me, Im running on premix and as I'm in camp my bike does not run 5 days in a go. Do I have to shake up the mixture?

 

Paranoid :(

 

Depends on which 2T type and brand you are using.

 

I tested a few before I settled on a reliable one with minimal separation.

 

How:

 

1. Get a colorless glass bottle (Have loads of empty vodka bottles)

 

2. Pour 2T in

 

3. Pour petrol in

 

4. Shake once, max twice to simulate a top up at the filling station

 

5. Seal bottle and leave it in a dark, cool location which does not experience movement, ie your storeroom.

 

6. After 2 weeks, take bottle out and move it to a well-lit area with a 100% white background. Check for separation.

 

Minimal separation - color is even distributed from top to bottom of bottle.

If there is a color separation, ie the top is mostly the color of your petrol, and 2T color progressively gets darker towards the bottom of bottle - 2T will separate from petrol, hence not a good premix 2T.

 

Among those with minimal separation I tested, Silkolene Comp 2 Plus, Motul (can't rem the type, I think Fully Synth) Unil-Opal Racing Semi Synth, Unil-Opal Titanium Fully Synth.

 

Those that fared poorly, which pretty much repelled itself from petrol like a virgin from a rapist: Maxima, 747, Rock Oil.

 

The r-series have made it thru the pages, aprilia riders? Read thru the interviews, cant believe such bikes can go up to 180km/hr whereas some of our heavily mod aprilians can only get up to 170+km/hr.

 

170km/h measured by GPS or onboard speedometer?

 

I once raced a KR150. We kept paced for a long distance. My speedo read 190km/h. His speedo was at 220km/h.

 

In a separate touring trip, I measured my speed against the GPS. My speedo read 200km/h. GPS actual speed was 180+km/h.

 

I think it's alright bro. Like i told u, the rectifier starts charging the battery after 4000RPM. Should be fine. ;)

Yes. Sounds like your rectifier might be on the blink. Probably due to die of old age or natural causes in another 5000-10000km or so.

Actually if u take into account that my bike was out of action for 3 weeks and i think i worked on it for at least a total of 24hrs, i think the word specialist isnt suitable. lol. Think i graduate from diy sch with certificate of participation only. hahaha

 

Wah. So humble. First time I put my humpty dumpty back together and it started on the first crank, I was so proud I couldn't stop bragging for days.

 

1:50? In 1 litre of petrol u put 50ml of 2t? Isnt tat too much!

 

In every 50ml of petrol you put 1ml of 2t or in other words, 1litre petrol: 20ml 2t

i'm using 1litre to 15ml 2t... i ride hard too.

vteclee -15ml to 1 litre

 

feelicks - 20ml to 1 litre

 

My 2T:Fuel ratio is now back to 1:75

 

Which means, 1 Litre of 2T to 75 Litres of petrol.

Or also 1 Litre of petrol to 13ml of 2T. My 2T bottle is 90ml, so I usually pump 6.75 Litres of petrol.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Subzero is using a polini and if I recall correctly he has reflected that he has the same top speed as us, only greater torque.

Yup, a stock bike can hit atleast 160, but it'll take u some time to take there. :) All you need to do is have an aftermarket exhaust and 34mm carb properly tuned, even 170 shouldnt be a problem. If you want a more powerful daily ride, go for the polini or the italkit. More torque, roughly the same top speed but less high rev. Good for street riding, but maybe not for track. Not sure about that. :)

No probs.

 

My bike is out of action again and stuck at my office. My spark plug fouled up. And becoz i refused to believe that it fouled up(coz i juz changed it like the day before) i kept cranking the bike so now the batts dead too. lol. but a simple test(which i shud have done before i screwd my battery) showed that there was no more spark when i crank. dang. The main reason why i think the plug got f**ked up was coz it was a cheap $3 plug. I think its the wrong rating. Bought a few of these for plug chops, but used them after i did my overhaul coz the old spark plug was also f**ked up.

 

The compression after i fixed everything back on was 125psi btw. So not the amazing 135 i saw before i fixed everything back on, but still healthy enough =)

I'm using stock block mate, with 28mm carb. No money to afford such stuff, but I have ridden a polini installed bike before. Roughly same top speed, but acceleration was crazy with premix and K&N pod filter. :) Damn fast siaaa... And 1 other thing, the polini can effortlessly hit 175 atleast on a 39 rear sprocket, and can go further i feel, but had cars ahead, needed to close throttle. :)

I went to the officla wesbite for aprilia parts and it stated there that polini kit is meant for racing. I shall consider getting the italkit and do premix.Prolly will improve my acceleration. Moroever, how fast can you go in singapore road. The best is just go for accelration.. :D

if ya going 4 full on speed, u need e 34mm carb + after market exhaust + unrestricted cdi + fully functional PV unit.

 

if ya going 4 acceleration, u need Vforce 3/boyesen reed valves + big bore kit + change of sprockets + gd tuning + change of air filters

 

wif all these u most definately need control thus, after market front n rear shocks + after market brake calipers + after market master pump cylinders + after market rearsets + gd tires

 

n above all to afford all tt u need alot of money...

 

moral of e story, stick to stock, get comfortable wif ur ride 1st, learn e ins n outs of ur bike be4 changing tis n tt. e bike's got more dan enuff power on its own, so get use to tt 1st.

 

e more stuff u throw in ur bike, e higher e potential 4 things to go wrong, our parts are'nt cheap n when e **** hits e fan, u'll b stuck so deep in repairs/installments/towage/replacements tt u'll have no choice but to sell off ur ride...

 

take a chill pill, enjoy e ride n learn from e more experienced riders only mod when u can afford to. last but not least, welcome to e family =)

Nice.....what is your spring rate? 10.5 ? 11? 11.5? Can show some side view of the shock? Enough space between the airbox bottom & the swing arm top for the shock reservoir?

Secondly, mod-ed bike MAY have more problems as u dont know whether the previous owner did abuse the bike. It'll cost more to repair a mod-ed bike compare to a stock.

Firstly I wanna feel the stock bike and slowly add mods to feel the difference one by one.

 

Secondly, mod-ed bike MAY have more problems as u dont know whether the previous owner did abuse the bike. It'll cost more to repair a mod-ed bike compare to a stock.

if u really want speed, get a yamaha 125z .. bigbore it and stuff maybe spend 3 plus 4k... i pretty sure it can outrun any of our machines here. in my opinion our bikes are better at stability and looks big for 2b bikes. till date i have spent abt 3-4k just to do up my bike engine but i pretty sure if this 3-4 were to spent on a yamaha 125z, i think it could be a jackpot machine. since ur previous ride is a tzm i hope u dun get disappointment in rs125 as in engine performance. but for handling and cornering this is the bike for it. we might have the biggest looks and a wide range of aftermarket parts to play with, but if really to match up with a really well tune up bike like sp krr tzm 125z, theres a high chance that we might just smell their 2t as they either have a bigger CC or they are confirm lighter than our machine ... just my opinion, hope i dun flare anyone here. ride aprilia ride a class out of it.
