Just guessing, but how about using heavier fork oil or installing new fork springs that can take a heavier load or both?

Hey, that might be a workable and comparatively cost-effective solution! Hanif, what do you think?

Tuning is everything, isn't it. And that's the part that is the most time-and-effort-consuming. I'm surprised you could bear to sacrifice your nicely-tuned carb, just when you got it right. I guess the lure of power was just too much to resist, eh? Oh yah, you didn't mention if you're pre-mixing or using the 2T tank?

I'm still not happy with the way my bike's tuned. Was planning to visit Black but no time.

i also don't what got into me that made me changed it...

haha

anyway.. since i already know the optimum setting for the 34mm carb for my bike..

i can always change it back when i want..

tuning can be much more effortless if the mechanic put more time into tuning it..

just by reving ya stationary bike and screwing only the air/petrol mixure screw is

not really good tuning.. changing the main jet, needle clip, atomiser, float height, idle jet and most importanly riding the bike are what it takes to tune a carb..

nope.. i'm using the 2T tank.. my mech said running premix is much better...

but i really don't wanna carry a cough bottle of 2T around with me...

if ya still able to ride ya bike, how would ya piston be jammed!! guess most probably it's

just a burnt fuse!! that's electrical component problem and not engine problem!!

trying adjusting ya exhaust for a higher clearance.. check the tires that they are of the correct pressure and ya not running on a flat tires.. ya can try changing the fork oil.. but forget about changing the spring in the fork... that would cost a lot of money as it's not easy task to take out the spring.. if ya really doing it.. might as well rebuilt it into a adjustable fork.. and that would cost 900$+..

just a note... sometimes when they say that the piston has "jammed" or "seized" they don't mean totally but they mean the rings have jammed up and are no longer sliding smoothly within the block. The engine can still rotate but it's with high resistance and it's damaging the block with each stroke. Apparently it's pretty common according to the boys at ideal.

Yeah its my exhaust chamber thats scraping the humps...basically the lowest point of the bike.....i think i shall get the bike shocks set up for my weight as for changing the fork oil i think its worth a try...wats the rating for the stock oil we're using? And as for how fast i was going over the humps....it wasn't fast at all...in fact it was really really slow :giddy:

Anyway went to johor last night and decided to join my friends in testing the full power of their bike....started an steep downhill and dragged the first gear till about 10k and all that was going thru my mind when the valve opens was....."WOOOOAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!"......i think the front wheel wasn't touching the ground....2nd gear onwards drag till redline and the pull was just scary...reached 180km/h in 3rd or 4th gear....i could have pissed in my pants...seriously...thus i came to the conlusion that i need to do more stuff to the bike :cheeky:

eh ur bike got arrow pipe izit ? milo kong can reach 180 at 44th gear ? powerful enuf lorrr....

then again, hmmm.... u get my point of thought ? lets try together and i follow u from behind. pick any day after 9pm this week.

btw, not healthy to rev 1st gear till 10rpm. its supposed to be a "moving off gear". once in a while ok. any more and u might have excessive wear on the gear bearings like what happened to lawrence.

on shox : check out lawrence rear shox. there's not many of these lying around. hehe. i shud noe cos i once used it. shall not tell u the cost. hhehe. but brand new cost more than 1k. front fork options there are a few options. either use a heavier weight oil which in my opinion wont make much difference other than the damping. its the spring that need to be changed. however, for rs125 and rs250(1996-1997), the forks only have one spring on 1 side. the other side is the damper which explains y ur forks leak on one side most of the time. its unbalanced if u ask me. to much stress on 1 side. eyez quote u a correct amout for getting the front forks to be adjustable, catered to ur weight. did that on my rs250 and its a big difference. ask jude on his rs250. check out the forks. u can do the same on ur rs125 too.... btw, the forks are the same diameter.

Its one of those arrow inside milo exhaust.......didn't noe about the 1st gear bit...will avoid doing that from now on :cheeky: As for the shocks....if u can find me a good 2nd hand one like lawrence's then i'm up for it....but $900 for the fork rebuilt is a bit too much for me....rather save that money for taking care of the bikes maintanence and stuff

which brand is lasting and good for road use. i m not a racer , so i don think i require a good tyre. May be i prefer a tyre which can reduce the chances of getting skipped.

Hey ben i'm up for the a DIY session...i think its time to clean my valves and maybe give law an impromptu visit  Need to pick up more 2t from him anyway...

I think jude is right...going downhill may have something to do with it but let me just say that going all out in johor will probably be the scariest experience of your life :giddy: Cannot make it man the road condition

Ben, you heard right. This guy IS loco! haha

just get license go JB clear carbon already leh... cool!

going all out on the NS highway is fine. Especially when it's an RS125 with a top speed of only 160-180...

I've done up to 240 there on my Z1000 and other friends have done 280+ on their R1's etc.

Wouldn't wanna try it on the PG highway though.

Roadster and myself will certainly be at Wheelers on Wed night from 9pm onwards. We usually meet our other rider friends there on Wed nights for coffee and test riding of each others bikes. Not really a suitable place to test ride RS's though. No place to wind them up.

Hi all aprilians..

Thanks alot for your replies to my earlier enquiry..

Im going to view a RS 125 Aprilia FT tomorrow.

It would great if u guys out there can tell me what to look out for..

Cuz im new and im viewing it alone so please let me know some pointers to look out for ..

Another thing .. i read the previous threads..

Whats with the milo thing ?

My friend said rs125 is a slow bike, expensive to maintain and relatively hard to control..

Anyone beg to differ ?

I just wanna hear opinion cuz i have been saving up for a bike for like 8 months since TP so wanna make a good choice.

Cheers all.

Hi van,

firstly,if you see a fat and ugly exhaust that looks like a milo tin,it is probably a milo kong, judging from the plate FT,it is most definately a milokong exhaust, because my bike is a FT plate too. It's a real pain in the ass,as it restricts your bike not only in speed,it weighs a ton, and you cant corner too low while cornering on your left hand side or else you will scratch your exhaust chamber, basically it's a piaggio scooter's exhaust on your bike.

secondly,we italian riders always have to face this crap as to say our bike is slow ,exp to maintain and all that crap.I would like to ask if your friend has ride or bought a aprilia before? if he has not, how can he make such a unfair judgement? maintainance wise it is the same as a KIPS or SP,parts price wise , of course it is more expensive, it is from italy not thailand(common sense?). I speak from personal experince as i use to own a kips, and trust me it sucks big time...

RS a hard bike to control? of course!it is a track bike, thats why in the hands of unskilled riders who keep their hands straight while riding and cornering ,it is hard to control!.

thirdly, if you don't mind i can go down with you tmr to view the bike, as there is so much things to look out for, you can even call some of the guys here, they are real friendly and are more knowlegeable than me. Drop me a PM by tonight or you can call me at 97828437(ben).

cheerios.

Always be prepared.
