On the subject of gear oil, I experimented with changing it at a 2000km interval instead of my former 1000km interval. After about 1500km, I noticed that shifting and pedal action was less smooth than before. During oil change, the oil has a slightly burnt smell. Therefore, the next interval I'm going to try is 1500km.

Oil should ideally come out in roughly the same condition as when it goes in. If we feel a difference in shifting, that means the oil has already degraded and ceased providing adequate protection. That's not good news, so I've concluded that even 2000km is too long. Bear in mind though that I ride my bike very hard, although I suspect that's no different from most of us here.

hey dude, let us analyse ya problem...

can ya engine crank when ya push the start button??

is ya a Y2k model??

if so, make sure it's in neutral, if not ya won't be able to start?? at least,

try moving it and see whether does it move freely..

if ya bike is not cranking, mayb it's the ignition...

did that happen after ya left ya bike in the rain?

Did you also notice if there was a difference in the colour and viscosity?

Was it a much darker shade than the "clean" oil?

That's another possibility billy- if your bike's been wet from either rain or washing, several component could be wet, which would prevent it from starting (ignition, kill switch, etc).

Viscosity - hard to tell any difference just by looking and touching; colour - definitely much darker.

It would be even better if there was no request for help........which would mean hassle/problem free.........but that would just be wishful thinking..........

Sol-ful Ride To Emerald Park

Date: 18 June 2005 Saturday

Time: 2000hrs

Place: Emerald Park, Indus Road (yet to update full detail on postal address)

Mito rider Solomon's birthday, AND also initiation to National Service

This is a good time to catch up with the Mito riders, our Italian cousins. And also for the new riders to get acquainted with each other.

Attendance

1) lacrimosae

2) muser (would love to meet even earlier than that to hang out)

3) Divine^ponytailz (Lido Macs, 1800hrs anyone?)

You know what, why don't we just meet at Lawrence's shop NTrust Enterprise (10 AMK Ind Park 2A, #05-28 AMK Autopoint)! Most of the Aprilians and Mito riders haven't had the chance to check it out yet, and it's definitely a place you guys will want to return to as they ramp up into full swing after their official opening. We might as well check out some place new and support Lawrence, a pillar of the Arc, rather than give business to some anonymous Starbucks. How, the rest of you game? Shall we say 1800 hrs? Come lah, don't make me drag you.

Which prata shop?

Nearer to the seletar camp and on the opposite side of Thasevi?

since its at jalan kayu, i think i will only reach around 2130-2200hrs.

Shall we meet at the one NEXT to Thasevi? Easier to find, less confusion

Food for thought...

Actually, they are both owned by the same brothers........:help:

Hey wacko, don't worry lah, work always gets in the way of life from time to time :cheeky: I also can't make it on Thursday since I'm on nightshift as usual. Why don't you join us, plus the Mito riders, on Saturday? There'll be at least one other RS250 (Divine^ponytailz) to keep you company, heheh.
