Haha, i'm not expert on milo tong. But anyway ben if you want to check if it is, firstly at the stomach(chamber) area of the exhaust, just use something hard to knock it, it should sound hollow.Secondly, check if there is any weld marks on the chamber itself,if there is, most probably it has been cut open and welded back.I've seen some aprilias operate their milo kong on the end can, thou i'm not sure why or it helps at all..Anythinf else unsure ask him to come down to an apilia outing liek what chris said.

Wacko> I'm just waiting for the day one of these arseholes does such a thing to me. I've seen them doing it to many other riders before but I haven't been lucky enough to experience it for yet. I've got my preplanned road rage "act" scripted in my mind and I'll make sure these ****ers never dare get so impatient again.

My only hope is they don't freak out and run over my bike because I intend to just stop the bike directly in front of them, get off, place it on it's sidestand (all very slowly mind you) and the approach the driver. The rest I will leave to your imagination.

Question...

Should I sell or keep my Aprilia?

How do I ensure that I won't damage it in a similar way again?

I know that if I ride it sensibly (don't overrev it out of every corner on PG) it will be fine but I'm really not sure if I'm capable of such control. I totally love the way the bike handles and considering my size vs the bikes size I actually find it really comfortable to ride but the power is an issue. Going from a 1000cc to a 125/150 for daily riding is fine but for track I'm struggling. Friends are telling me that I made a mistake not buying the 250 but the fact that Aprilia no longer makes any parts for these older model bikes really concerns me.

Lost n confused.

That would be a sight to see! For those of you who haven't met him, Axxis is damn tall, and the sight of him walking slowly and deliberately to me - and obviously pissed off - would definitely be scary

Muser> I had a friend back in Aust who drove this very beat up old Aussie car (really solid piece of crap). When he got impatient drivers behind him, especially tailgaters he would play with them for a while, ensuring they were following VERY closely behind him at speed and then slam on the brakes. They would inevitably plow right into the back of him, destroying the front end of their shiny new machines but leaving his pretty much unchanged. He would then simply wave goodbye and drive off.

In Australia the law pretty much states that the car with front end damage is automatically at fault.

Ask yourself if you think a fully-modified RS125 will satisfy you. If not, be realistic and get a RS250 and live with the issues of spares. If yes, then go all out and modify - legally of course  - your RS125 thoroughly. The power increase will be noticeable. Should've let you ride my bike in it's previous incarnation.

Also, er, either find a mechanic you're 100% confident in if that's not already the case, and make sure he makes the appropriate adjustments to your bike before hitting the track - primarily 2T pump flow. Or, you could keep street 2T pump flow, and pour a capful or two of 2T into the fuel tank to premix alongside.

And don't over-rev lah. Most of the bros will disagree with me, and most of the bros happily over-rev with no visible sign of damage - yet. But the red line's there for a reason. It's so carefully calculated that when a different crankshaft is used, manufacturers will compute a different safe red line.

Racers over-rev, but that's because they use specialised parts like - titanium pistons and con rods, lightened and balanced crankshafts, and blueprinted engines. After races, the engines are stripped down. Are you prepared to strip your engine after a track session or two? Or pray that hidden damage won't eventually show up? If not, stick to the redline, and maybe a hair or two beyond. If you can't trust yourself to keep to that, get a RS250, or find a way to - legally - up the power of your RS125.

Brothers and sisters, don't piss either Axxis off, or his friends! This reminds me of a car gang in Singapore trying to intimidate my friend and I while my friend was driving his BMW 7-series. One of the fools used up his brakes on his 10-year-old Toyota Corolla and plowed into the back of the BMW at what must have been at least 80km/h while we were stopped at a traffic light. There were only minor scratches on the BMW's rear bumper, but the Corolla's engine was crumpled like newspaper, with fluids all over the place, and the occupants dazed. It's handy to be in a solid vehicle. I want a car like your buddy's, Axxis.

When I was waiting at a set of traffic lights one morning (again, back in Aust) a car slammed into the back of me at about 80km/h. The driver was a night shift security guard had fallen asleep at the wheel and realized just before impact, to hit the brakes just enough to make the nose of his car dive downwards before impact. The back of my car bounced up in the air and then slammed back down to the ground.

When I looked back in my rearview mirror at the car behind me (a large 5 litre Holden Commodore, big car) it was totalled. The hood was folded up and the front quarter panels were hanging off the sides with the radiator all mashed up and the wheels all smashed up. I couldn't imagine how bad my car would look from the back. When I got out and walked to the back of my car (and OLD toyota Supra) it looked almost untouched.

However, later I noticed that the sides of the car (just behind the front doors) had buckled inwards. It turned out the whole chassis of the car had become banana shaped and the car was about half a foot shorter than previously. The worst part was I had just bought the car the previous week. (2nd hand) =(

Sad to say it was repaired but never felt the same and after that day it used to creak and groan.

The thing that was really funny was that the guy tried to claim that I was reversing over the intersection towards him at 80km/h, while he was parked stationary at the light. Ever seen a car do 80km/h in reverse? Idiot didn't have any insurance or money to pay for the damaged. Thank god my insurance fully covered me and sued him.

I'm a peace-loving person too. I strongly encourage tolerance of errant drivers.

BUT when a rider's life is suddenly endangered by the driver who either

1) has no clue; or

2) pretends to be clueless;

a person's sense of self-preservation can very much overwhelm all reason. A petite gazelle fighting off a pack of wolves would pale in comparison.

Once, while I was cycling, I came to a hair's breadth from dying under the wheels of a MaxiCab. I picked myself up from the road, noticed I only suffered lacerations, nothing broken, followed and caught up with him, punched his window, reached in and nearly dragged him out by the neck with his seatbelt on until he relented and got out of the cab by himself. I'm embarrassed to mention in detail the events that ensued but it involved a lot of shouting, including at the cab driver, police officers, and an attempted assult on the cab driver. I was in a hurry to be someplace else, so I didnt pursue the matter. Ergo, I was threatened to be charged for assault and disturbance. Cabbie got a lucky break that day. I would have broken a face first and maybe ask questions later.

The cab was a big, sturdy MaxiCab, and he hit me and ran. Would YOU have let a hit-and-run driver go, even if you had the chance to catch him?

The guy who chased the cab got himself killed because he wasnt thinking straight. Once your mind is consumed by rage, logic is the first thing out the window.

The best thing to do is to remember his license plate number and report it to the authorities, who wont do jackschitt about it. But do it anyway. Alternatively, you can track him down another day, or follow him home, keeping a safe distance.

When it's your life on the line, would you simply lie down and die, or fight back and make a stand? :giddy:

Update on the sup... just called and asked... the price i told u guys was 3 years from now... it has raised to 380 and now 480... the new batch of stock is going higher again! better get a serviceable one lah... don waste time with the oringinal one...

Have 2 pieces left in shop. Brand new original Aprilia rear shock (Sachs) $480 each. First come first serve basis. Of course, its always better to get an aftermarket shock like Ohlins, or WP, or Bitubo etc. But for those who cant squeeze that extra hunner out, this will suffice...

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Law> This is what I've seen go down a few times before. once with cyclist in Aust and one motorcyclist here. Both let the speeding/honking idiot go past but tailed a short distance behind, not causing any trouble. When the driver came to a standstill at a set of lights the bike rider dismounted behind, walked up casually to the window and knock lightly with a smiling friendly face. When the errant driver winds the window down he gets knocked out by the swift powerful fist thrown through the open window. Lights turn green, rider/cyclist continue on their merry way while the driver remains either unconscious or very dazed in the seat of their car.

I wouldn't go for this option or ever race with a car but I will happily stop my bike at a set of lights and confront a driver if I've done nothing wrong and someone is honking/hassling me. I want their to pay for their impatience by losing more of their obviously so valuable time.

I won't get flustered by one of these drivers but a new rider could easily make a silly mistake or get hurt by them so it's worth making them think twice before they think about hassling a biker. The trouble is they're too used to just getting their own way.

I've seen riders pressured into turning right from a go straight OR turn right lane at intesections before by a honking car when there is a red light but green turn arrow. Yes, it's not ideal that they are sitting there but I'm sure they didn't intend to end up there. Cars in Singapore often act as though bikers don't exist and have zero rights. I've adjusted my riding style to suit and so far I've let everything go (when taxis/cars move into my lane forcing me out, cut me off abruptly etc) but I've seen some incidents with other riders that I wouldn't stand for. With these incidents there are sometimes options for "safe" confrontation if there is such a thing and it is in this kind of situation that I would make a stand.

Hi all! Just sent my bike into Ideal today..... Sigh..... Miss her already.

Anyways, just wanna ask around if anyone's got a 2nd hand rear suspension to sell. The one that they're quoting me is 500 bucks man! (Sachs)

My current one's stiff as a board, and its really affecting my riding man. Hope you guys can help with some advice on whether I should get a brand new one, a 2nd hand olin, or simply a 2nd hand Sachs suspension.

Thanks!
