When Axxis still had his CBR150, he whacked it till 1:20 timing at PG, hurhur, stock some more. Plus those 3 race-spec factory-sponsored CBR150s permanently at PG are scary and fast - wheelie from a standstill. If I remember right, PG had a CBR150-specific race too.

Dellorto 34-39mm have the same external diameter .. the numbers are for the internal venturi diameters. mukuni and keihin carb are thinner .

 

overall grade to grade comparison dell orto will be better . aprilia stock carb 34mm is VHSB 34LD , one of the lowest grade of dellorto raciing series. Keihin PWK is like the top 2rd or 3rd of the Keihin racing series.

hey rs125 riders, i'm here to ask a noob question. what's the consumption like on the 125? the y2k til current 05 models are more or less the same?

hear from wacko that a common problem with the rs125 is the valve? could someone enlighten me on this? btw where did u guys get the so-called 34mm carb from? does that increase fuel consumption by alot? thanks

No such thing as a noob question. Just ask.

 

Consumption really depends on which mechanic is doing the jetting for you.

 

Most mechanics would prefer to err on the rich side, which is also the 'safe' side. This is done to cover their own asses.

 

So, the common lie they will tell you (usually in broken English) is that "Aprilia is a fuel guzzler, it drinks petrol like a thirsty camel in the oasis. Nothing can be done, you cant do anything to help it."

 

However, with some tinkering of your own, you may discover that you can run your bike slightly lean, and still be riding on a safe jet setting. I ride on a lean setting, yet I covered 400+km through Mersing, Jamaluang and N-S Highway at 150-160 kph consistently. Everyone thinks that's a sure way to get a piston seizure. Well, turns out, it isnt.

 

A bike tuned by most bike shop mechanics might give you a 17-25km/L fuel consumption. But some of us here have tried and succeeded in squeezing 28km/L and more from their bikes, without sacrificing safety and power. I've managed to get 33km/L on a FT-plate Y2K. Nope, no piston seizures on that one either!

 

The 34mm carb can be bought from scrapyards, pinched off older/scrapped Aprilias, namely the pre-97 Extrema version.

 

NO, the 34mm carb will not increase fuel consumption. Again, common ploy by mechanics too lazy to keep testing the bike while jetting. Bear in mind, getting your jetting right takes a lot of time and effort, and there aint many mechanics willing to do that.

coz i realised that the earlier 2000-2001 models are abit lower priced than the 03-05 models. the y2k a better bet? u guys usually service at?? at least the 125's consumption is better than it's bigger brother....

08 April 2006 Update :

 

MotoMilia has replied with regards our accomodation. All we need to do is to gather a budget for the whole group and they will assist us in getting a good deal with the hotels there either in Sepang itself or KL city. This is definitely good news. A big thanks goes out to AmeeHalim of Motomilia.

 

As spoken at Kallang, we will meetup again to discuss the budget for the hotel. Tentatively its set at SGD45 per person for one night, breakfast inclusive where possible.

 

Hopefully by 22nd April we can confirm so that MotoMilia can help us to book. Our hotel would typically be at the Sepang Area for logistic reasons.

 

At the moment we have 5 vacant slots for riders playing track after I have broken down the group. Come join us. Its not often we are doing this.

 

If budget is your concern, then I would say overall SGD200 is sufficient for a relatively cool 2day trip with a little cash to spare.

there is one thing same about those 2 bikes

both are italian beauties!!

performance wise, should be the same= GREAT.

i've never ridden one though but i'm slanting towards getting a rs125 or 250 soon. the allure of italian bikes is too much.

go with your heart dude. if u like the mito more, get the mito, if u like the rs more, get it. but rs has got legal arrow man! haha

however in both cases, you'll have to ride the bike for long....coz rs and mito's price drops like mad.
