As long as you dont put cooking in oil in your 2T tank, almost any 2T is ok for a commuter RS125. If you do like to keep the revs up and ride pretty quick, you might consider getting good quality 2T. Injector-specific 2T are available like the Maxima Super M Injector or Motul 600. These 2Ts are slightly less viscous to flow easily through the pump. If you pre-mix your 2T with your petrol, meaning you add 2T into your petrol tank in a carefully calculated ratio, then you can choose a non injection-specific oil.

 

My personal favourites are Unil-Opal, Maxima, and Mobil Racing. All within the $18-20 range.

 

I've used Castrol R2 before. It leaves a lot of carbon deposits at the valve and the valve usually ends up getting jammed after a week or 2. Jammed valves usually end up as broken valves. Use at your own risk.

 

I rewrapped my seats at Auntie's shop. They have a thinner, non-slip material which is matt and not textured like leather and scores a 10 on the cool scale. I think leather seat-wraps are so '80s.

Eyz & Lacrimosae: Good to hear from you guys. Actually, we would be transferring bike ownership down at LTA this saturday. So technically, it's still not my bike. The fellow who owns the RS125 did mention that you guys were a friendly bunch. I will be most glad to join you guys in your May BBQ affair as it would initially be the single best time to meet most of the aprilia riders here. So how do i give my contribution? I won't be able to stay overnight though...

 

Eyz: Thanks, I will take you up on your pillion footpegs so conveniently lying around. I'll call you tomorrow for the details. I might take one, or both. The bike still has its pillion footpeg itself, the thing missing is the metal pin/hinge holding the footrest to the assembly.

 

Lacrimosae: I think i better leave pre-mixing out of the question since it will be a bit too cumbersome - at the expense of the carefully calculated ratio. I'd better stick to the 2T pump doing the mixing for me (although i think it may need some adjusting since there's quite a bit of smoke, more than the usual - either that or i think i need to change the oil to a better one) - for this, since you mentioned that it's quite a no-no to mix different 2T together, i want to drain and flush all the existing 2T out before i put in the good stuff --- but i don't know how to DIY. I will most probably use Motul Racing, any recommended shop to get this? My riding habit is more often relatively relaxed although at times when the sense of rush kicks in, i let adrenalin take its course and go for quick bursts...sometimes. As for the seats, thanks for the cool advise...i will take the seats (main and pillion) to auntie's shop either this weekend or the next. how much will i expect to shell out for the job?

I wont be staying overnight too.

We'll just contribute $20 for the BBQ regardless if you're overnighting or not.

08 April 2006 Update :

 

MotoMilia has replied with regards our accomodation. All we need to do is to gather a budget for the whole group and they will assist us in getting a good deal with the hotels there either in Sepang itself or KL city. This is definitely good news. A big thanks goes out to AmeeHalim of Motomilia.

 

As spoken at Kallang, we will meetup again to discuss the budget for the hotel. Tentatively its set at SGD45 per person for one night, breakfast inclusive where possible.

 

Hopefully by 22nd April we can confirm so that MotoMilia can help us to book. Our hotel would typically be at the Sepang Area for logistic reasons.

 

At the moment we have 5 vacant slots for riders playing track after I have broken down the group. Come join us. Its not often we are doing this.

 

If budget is your concern, then I would say overall SGD200 is sufficient for a relatively cool 2day trip with a little cash to spare.

 

Im extending the dateline for additional riders playing track till next weekend, say 17 April. So add on the list pls... The first 5 names have been confirmed.

Ok guys going to the Sepang trip, I just jammed my valve today.... neglected this thing. I will list down these things u guys should do b4 the trip.

 

1) Check Battery condition, charge it a day b4 the trip.

2) Wash valve a day b4 the trip.

3) Wash Carb a day or 2 b4 the trip.

4) Check Front n Rear brake pads if enough for the trip.

5) Change Gear Oil a day or 2 b4 the trip.

6) Top-up 2T tank a day b4 the trip n have a litre as spare(u gona need it)

7) Check chain slag. Tighten if necessary. Lube chain b4 trip.

8) Check tyre pressure a few hours b4 the trip. I suggest 200 front, 220 rear.

9) Check ur engine compression a few days b4 to ensure bike fit for the trip. We will mostly clock 1000km by the time we reach home.

 

 

Lastly, waterproof all your belonging just in-case caught in the rain. Spidy, Ambal n me were caught in the rain on our way back from Sepang for the whole 377km!!!!!!!

guys I want to know how many wants to ride up at Midnight. I dont want to hurt my engine by riding long distance in the day. Those in favour of riding up at about 12.30am on 29/4/06 pls show ur names. Traffic will be less n air cooler n less danger of vehicles n also better for engines esp 2 strokes. If 1am we leave n ride at 6th gear 8k rpm, with 3 20mins stops, we wil reach at about 6am.

 

By the way, I onli know the road to Sepang.... haha... need to research on how to get to the hotel these few days. Worse case we get near Sepang n hire a cab to bring us there..... always works.... but problem is that cabs are hard to find at 6am....lol....

Nearest hotel to Sepang is Concorde Inn KLIA, which is located right outside the airport. The Concorde located one circus after the Sepang one, located opposite the Caltex station.

 

If u need the exact directions, u can ask the Biketech ppl. They'll provide it for you.

 

 

 

BTW even with a 2B bike, u will definitely reach Sepang in about 3 to 4 hours. It's not that far from SG.
