Jonathan : Thats a very good review bro.. keep it up. ITs very informative

Chris : Chris!! Ive seen it. Its still da same although with some minor outer thingies. Will help her get it up and running again. Bike and babe... :lovestruck:

Zeke : I seriously discourage paint on rims. Rims are meant to be powder coated. reasons being, paint does not stick well on rims due to the heat generated and the revolving nature on the spindle. U might end up having cracks in the paintwork within months. Leave the blue rims as it is. Powder coat is an expensive process. read up on how its done. If u want to paint ur fairings, go ahead but pls leave the rims alone. One botched job on the rims does not equate an easier job on a botched fairing. At one time or another, u might change tyres and paint is easily scraped off from the rim compared to the original powder coated surface.:

upz for the explanation here pal... what he says is quite true...by half.... i should say.

cracks will seldom...or should i say never crack due to the revolving nature of the rims.... but if say spray paint on the engine then diff story....engine is way too hot for the paint..unless u are toking abt u are riding way toooooo fast till ur rims are burning like fire...then...the paint will crack... the pain will stick well on rims depends on how well ur quality paints are... i have tried painting rims for porsche, integra and such....no prob at all. but one thing for sure. if stones came flying towards rims....the paint might get "chip" off due to impact...but again..this has a resolution. i have a kind of lacqure dat reflects the stones impact by at least 40 to 50% depends on how hard the small stone impact is.... it actually cause the stones to "bounce off" upon impacting the rims. fun isn't it?

but i cant denie that changing of tires will chip off the painted rims as it depends on how the mechnic handles ur rims

in time to come..i might consider spraying tires... :) have already found the solution but not really tried yet. haha! wait till i have the time ba..

dun get it wrong pal...i'm not here to flame anyone...juz some explanation...that everyone can learn....juz like i dun know powder coating....and u gladly explained it here.... well...i learn something too! :thumb:

hi bro... was extremely interested to spray my bike, but i wan to paint my rear mud guard... it's a kind of flexible plastic which from my last paint job, it had peeled off. i was told this kinda plastic needed some special blend of paint so it wun came off dat easily. do u have any experience on those? how much does it take paint a naked bike, including rims using quality paint? my last paint job was totally screwed up, 3 cracks had came out below the top coat on my plastic fuel tank!

Thanks again Bro J.

The thing about SG i feel is that the legal depts cant find a justifiable reason in most cases to actually legalise HIDS probably because of the nature of our country being well lit up on 90% or roads in SG with the exception of cemeteries and backlanes.

The only legal HIDs are those that car manufacturers produce themselves or kits that are approved on certain makes and these makes are usually the expensive ones.

It very difficult to ascertain is it safety that they are worried for or others. Bro Neo has well explained the techs on HID in one of the threads. I supposed unless we live in malaysia, probably then SG legal depts will close two eyes or even both.

Im not sure of the fine imposed at the moment for intalling non-approved kits and cant seem to find the online depository for fine related issues with the dollars involved unless I didnt find hard enough.

Its an expensive item definitely. It more worth it if anyone travels up north regularly. But if looks are your main aim, I guess its best to scrap the idea. Funny thing is that you can install spotlights and cover them but dont get caught using them on SG roads. I suppose you can install HID but dont use them in SG as well ? Double standards can apply here. This is SG unfortunately.

Oh I hope it's not my fault that you had to hold up your friend, what was his name again, it was kind of a mumble, so i er, didn't hear so well,whoops... SOrry to him!!!!

No worries bro, in any case, I have yet to see any gd rim job as mostly, i see cracks.

Nowadays, we see scramblers with painted frames. Nice but lasting ? That we wont know. Its currently being done by a reputable painter.

Im not an expert. I just express views on what I have seen. The technology for paint is vast but Im sure its at a price. I was told two tone cost more than regular paint jobs.

Hmm.... speaking of which, how much u charge for a single tone on typical colours like red or black on a rs ? HEHE ... PM me if convinient.

Actualy the reason of not allowing aftermarket HID is becos of the Ballast tat is very very high voltage , if installed wrongly/ incorrectly it will lead to an electrical meltdown or even fire ..

actually in singapore if u know the guidelines well , u can mod like mad yet LTA/ROV cant do anything to u... jus play within the rules.. :cheeky:

the most inflexible rule is wit regard to LED , how to find a LED unit tat is TUV or JASCO approved ... WTF

tks man for the comments!

Nowadays, we see scramblers with painted frames. Nice but lasting ? That we wont know. Its currently being done by a reputable painter.

lasting or not lasting depends on the workmanship. if he solely wans to earn ur money only...and provide lousy paints...it wun last more than 6 months... for your information, scramblers most parts is plastic. in order for plastic and paint to "bind" together....like what i have done to my GIVI box, a chemical call sealer is required. this to to spray the sealer with correct chemical mixture first...then the paint...then lacqure...ovenize at above 70 degree....therefore the paint on the plastic will definitely last no matter rain or shine. i dun see crackson my box...but more on scratches on it...(other pple see liao eye red...therefore kana scratch a bit here and there) sianz...

my two tone paint for my GIVI box last time a liter cost more than 1000 bucks already...seriously no joke. i and my bro each half half buy for fun and trying one. he sprayed for his R1 hugger. i sprayed for my box....color turns out quite overwhelming... u can see it at http://www.picturesky/winthur apparently i got into accident then i spray back the box to my bike color. too expensive to spray back the same R1 hugger color.. :( for my bike all in all i spent more than 600 for the paint job already.

Hmm.... speaking of which, how much u charge for a single tone on typical colours like red or black on a rs ? HEHE ... PM me if convinient.

for ur RS rite... wat cc is it? i need to have a view on is the currently spray job... a rough quote wll be range 350~600... depends. :)
