I've ridden this bike for all of 2 days before crashing it into a wall. Let's see...with all bikes (I'm sure), there are pros and cons.

PROS:

- Automatic (literally twist and go, no clutch or gears to worry about)

- Stable at slow speeds AND fast speeds

- Looks great!

- You sit 'in' the bike as opposed to sitting on it. When the road is wet, you'll appreciate it.

- Comfortable ride

- Silent engine (doesn't go 'beeeehhhhh' like a lot of ah pek bikes out there)

- comes with a matching top box

CONS:

- Wide seat (can't put both feet down - i've sent my seat for cutting this week)

- Auto side stand (it springs up - super annoying - currently getting mine changed to a normal side stand)

- Heavy (for me cos i'm a girl)

- Under seat storage supposed to be able to fit 2 open faced helmets - i can't even fit one!

- No helmet chain/loop - still figuring where to put my helmet (don't want to use the topbox cos it makes the bike heavier)

Wah! According to the feedbacks looks like the 'cons' outweighs the 'pro'....... The old generation of vespa more ideal except it's not fully automatic (but I think cheaper in maintainance). I think the smaller brother (sister?) of 150cc would be more ideal.

juz want correct the "CONS" part...

It DO have a holder to hang ur helmet in front.. like X9... at the top of the glove compartment... juz dat it doest locks...

underseat can fit 2 half caps... strictly for half caps onli(not other helmets).... storage is good is u wanna put shopping/grocery stuff...

Backbox lookz good... and surprisingly great storage place... can put 1 full face... and rain coat , bike cover etc.. tog wif it....

itz super light if u r a guy....

Side stand not advisable to change, coz wifout the spring back.. the stand may drop down while travelling n u will know wot happen.....

"PROS" is juz as stated...

therez onli a major problem which is with Piaggio itself... lotsa cosmetic probz wif the bike..... the back box... although new... got lotsa stains.... cannot be removed... we changed from a total trashy internal to a less stained internal backbox... moz of the boxes r like dat....

the different bodyparts of the bike doesnt seems to fit seamlessly..... lotsa lobangs at the joining area.... small little chips here n there...

and something to add... the bike's pick up is very good... though it cannot sustain high speeds for long periods of time. This high speed i was refering to is above 100kmh... however a vespa is meant to travel slow anyway... to see and to be seen :p get a kips if one prefers to have speed... :p

Ultra comfortable i should say.... putting 2 legs down shouldnt be a problem for one above 165cm of height. :)

ya i noe, i tot i was conned after realizing it doesnt even fit one "normal" helmet.

but the truth is, it fits the authentic vespa helmets, AND some no frills open face helmets. (glad my gf's head is small, so her helmet fits inside! although the visor gets bent in a way)

- No helmet chain/loop - still figuring where to put my helmet (don't want to use the topbox cos it makes the bike heavier)

hey i got the same misconception when i first got the bike, and ended up my helmet was stolen when i strapped it onto the pillion handles at a shopping centre cp!

but finally i wisen up, and saw that there are 2 notches near the pivot of the seat which are meant for clipping your helmets safely =)

the pickup for this bike is simply great, considering its 200cc, esp w/o pillion.

the only "con" i find is the wide mirrors.. aesthetically pleasing, but become a hazard when squeezing between lorrys/trucks with mirrors the same height as ours

also the topbox has great form, but doesn't maximize space fully due to its curved shape.

hmm, guess that's to secure the seat when closed and they are made of plastic, not advisible to hook your helmet there, you may break it. For LX, there's a proper helmet hook made of metal under the seat like most Japanese bikes. I don't hv problem storing my open face helmet underseat (Helmet size is L, Make is Shoei, Model J-Force). May be you hv try different way to get your helmet fit in correctly.

I usually ride single and uses half-cap, so storage is perfect for me... and funny thing is that the storage actually is bigger than my Mystic which has 2 x 42litres panniers...

And Vespa GT is a scooter, not motorcycle... :cheeky:

Dare to says this is the best vehicle I owned after 18yrs of riding... those racing/cheong/touring/beng's days are almost gone for me... hiaz... lao liao, just want to hv a comfort and slow ride...

From a pillion point of view, this is one of the most relaxing & comfortable bike. I enjoy riding, but not being a pillion on a bike. But it changes my perception, it move off smoothly, no jerking, not overpower causing pillion knocking rider helmet, comfortable back rest, soft cushion seat, travel in a relaxing speed and in style too!

Oh, if you are riding with GF of wife, both are in close proximity, pretty romantic :cheeky:

This is a scooter, not for high speed but it is really good for heavy traffic.

Never get a GT unless you are prepare to give up riding normal motorcycle... hahahaha... I nearly gave up both after owning the GT. Really a lovely scooter...

hehehe... you can alway test ride mine or my wife's LX before getting 1...

This is my first scooter. I have a Goldwing and the GT200. I am not riding my Goldwing because the Vespa is such a great commuter. It runs 65-70 on the freeway easy and gets almost 70mpg. Have had it to 77mph according to the speedo. It feels a lot like a BMW F650 I used to have...really. The handling is good with decent brakes. I love the twist and go in trafic. The GT200 is stable at speed, much more so than you would think. Skip the cheap Vespa topcase. I got it - it works but aftermarket would be better. I think. Overall a very good scooter but like I said my first so I am comparing to motorcycles I have owned...

GT 200 REVIEW

Initially I don't believe this guy but after owning 1, I understand how he feels...

think a brand new one will sets u back by roughly $7500 or so (plus minus a few hundred i think)

Fuel consumption seems to be hovering around 25km/l.

Colours seen so far were Black, Pearl White & Gray.

Maybe got a sky baby-blue too... not too sure.

It is a lovely bike :)

Planning to get me 1 of these. Shall I go direct to agent or any of you guys knows a good dealer?

PSC - Piaggio agent don't sell scooter... anyway, they will usually direct you to ASP. Source around, you will be surprised how much the price differ... ASP, Ban Hong Brothers and GHC gave quite good quotation...

I've ridden this bike for all of 2 days before crashing it into a wall. Let's see...with all bikes (I'm sure), there are pros and cons.

- Stable at slow speeds AND fast speeds

- Looks great!

- You sit 'in' the bike as opposed to sitting on it. When the road is wet, you'll appreciate it.

No joke here. You need is to cover your torse, as the scoot will protect your body from the waist down.

- Comfortable ride

- Silent engine (doesn't go 'beeeehhhhh' like a lot of ah pek bikes out there)

- comes with a matching top box

CONS:

- Wide seat (can't put both feet down - i've sent my seat for cutting this week)

Normally i have to stand up to reverse the scoot... and i'm 174cm tall

- Auto side stand (it springs up - super annoying - currently getting mine changed to a normal side stand)

I am going to have to agree... the side stand doesnt lock into place when engaged. quite dangerous, imho, since this bikes is, like the next point states, the bike IS heavy.

- Heavy (for me cos i'm a girl)

- Under seat storage supposed to be able to fit 2 open faced helmets - i can't even fit one!

its designed for half helmets actually. you can still stuff 3/4 helmets in there though, and 3/4 helmets with PSB sticker is available in singapore.

- No helmet chain/loop - still figuring where to put my helmet (don't want to use the topbox cos it makes the bike heavier)

actually, got. swing the seat open and near the front on the seat there are two pegs, one on each side of the bike. that peg allows you to loop your shopping bags... or usually in my case, helmets when i want to go walk around after parking the scoot.
