MSN Messenger Auto Sending

Seems like there's an increase in number of people(buggers ) who get themselves infected with the MSN auto sending bug, be it a zip file or a link to tell you that they look hot or whatever picture. What methods have you guys tried to offer to your friends to solve the case? At the rate I'm getting those messages from some of my 600+msn contacts, its insane.

Change the password.

 

Most, if not all, of these cases are due to clicking on the offer / tool to allow them to see who has removed / blocked their MSN contacts.

This usually requires them to key in their MSN password, a clear security breach where a 3rd party requests confidential ID data when even MS does not ask for it.

 

If you see these contacts who often sends out such spam messages, ask them to change their MSN / Hotmail account the next time you see them.

See, that's the problem. Case example, even if I'm free from this kind of infection, others may have it and as a result, I get random messages all the time from all of my infected contacts.

 

Solution? Urge all your infected friends to 'cleanup' their computer and do as what Throttle advises...advise your friends to change their passwords.

Need to tackle your desktop first (key loggers etc), and then move on to tackle your web account (against spam bots).
