Hi all,

Just gotten myself a Dragstar Classic after selling off my Steed a year ago. I am wondering these to give a deeper sound off my bike:-

1. Is it feasible to "tong" my exhaust pipes? What will happen?

2. Is it better to buy a slip-on? Any recommended ones for my bike?

3. If slip-on, is it easy to "slip" on and "slip" off when I need to?

Share with me your wisdom.

Thanks!

1. What method are we talking about here? Remove the buffle, muffler, spark arrestor or unbolt end cap? Anyway, your fuel consumption and performance may be affected.

2. I do not think there is any available in our local market brand new unless you import or buy it off from someone on the net.

3. It's just screws you need to work on.

Thanks! Saw something online that a guy actually drill at the tail end of his pipe with 3 holes initially and then later enlarged 2 holes to even make it louder. Oh .. he also took out part of the tail muffler (if it is the name of it). I will try to find the site again.

Thanks!

I did a similar act on my Daystar years back and right, the volume and brass of the sound from the exhaust is sweet. I also had the mechnic to fine tuned my fuel air ratio so as not to compromise with the fuel consumption. However, this modification does not give any significant increase in term of performance but then again, mine is just a 125cc motorcycle.

Its the deep bassy note thats nice. Not just increases in volumes.

But again, can a 400cc twin get a deep note by "tonging" ?

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???
