can la. if that person can lend me, and dont mind, can park the bike at the shop. :) indoor...

still not worth to change away the original seat skin unless yours is torn. cos the origimal one is thicker and much tougher than wat u can find outside. dun forget u can never buy back the original seat skin unless u order the whole damn seat.

Yeah. Finally back to civilisation at Genting Highlands.

Betong

03 days of no internet and phone network was bad but hor, for ppl who wants to be TOTALLY uncontactable, that's the place to go.

Not much interesting places to visit. Mostly massage, bars, kara-oks and lots of girls to be mistress for a day or 2.

I did try kup 50km (100km 2-ways) of corners towards Yala and it was shiok!!! Didn't scarp anything but I like the bike leaning left and right non-stop for 50km.

Anyway, got discount coupon for Sri betong Hotel useable till 30 Dec 09. Stay 1 night and use the coupon for free 2nd night. Weekdays only. Too bad.

Genting

For Betong to Sungei Perak R & R on the Gerik Highway (trunk road actually), I was doing 110km/h average. Very nice with long and big curves.

N and S highway was nothing much. Maintained 120-140km/h. Many cars on the roads so have to overtake from right, left, shoulder or lane split.

Genting was surprisingly crowded with lots of Indonesians and Taiwanese.

RM38 (weekdays only) for a room with full view of the Theme Park and comes with breakfast for 2.

At 0100, I just finished my 2 beers and live band performance at the Patio Bar. They can't sing well but can really motivate the crowds. Had a great time, made some friends and was lucky not to get dragged onto the stage to do the Michael Jackson!

Well, my trip buddies don't normally like pubs and noisy places. I was alone. Hmm...

Tomorrow going Cameron Highlands.

I intend to send my seat for rewrap, and I probably have to leave my seat there for a few days at least....

rewrapping the seat dosn't need few days... a proper job can be done in a day. if you make appointmnt, few hours also can.

can try 219 shop along lavendar st or eugene along jlln besar, price depends on design n fabric. e.g. eugene quoted me non-skid black rough fabric for $90, same pattern as stock

thanks scooby. I'm going to eugene. He's been doing seats for me for many years liao. haa. The reason why i probably need some time is because, I'm changing the profile of the seat slightly, and I will be doing some design on the seat as well.. but then again, maybe I will just leave my bike there and drive for the next 2 days. :p

From Genting

Finally got ppl go Holland taking the north route out.

Lead bike (me!!) ASSume the 2nd bike could see him and 3rd bike could see the 2nd bike and so on, thus carried on to turn towards Batang Kali. Unfortunaely, the 4th bike was too slow (bike heavy and got pillion) and missed the turn. Me got to back track and chased after them in double quick time. Sweat sweat.

Cameron Highlands

Took the old route up becos the last time I did was 20+ years ago in a tour bus. Route so tight and busy with slow cars. Not recommended.

Wooo, really cold up here.

Stayed at Titiwangsa Hotel at rm138 per room night. Went for foot massage by China girls (and 1 guy) and some like it but some don't.

Also eat Steamboat (nice!) and searched the night market for finger foods.

Nothing much to do here unless bring gf. :cheeky:

Penang

Finally reached Penang today (Thursday). Very very hot here.

Staying at the Oriental Hotel (town area) at rm75 per room night.

Took the guys to the Thai and Burmese temple then go Gurney Plaza for shopping, a movie and makans (eat-till-you-drop). Girls here are nose-bleedingly nice, sexy and fresh! 16yrs ++ what do you expect? Haha. Perverts...

Tmr going round island ride...

Penang Day 2

Woke up early and game for some Penang Hill climb.

Delayed big time at mid-station becos got minor landslide. Nothing much up there though. Tickets at rm4 per person.

Next went to Kek Lok Si (Goddess of Mercy) Temple. Didn't ride to the top becos the statue wasn't ready even after so many years.

So parked at the base and walked up through the shop street. The Buddha Hall (must pay rm2) was very nice. Me felt very peaceful there.

Snake Temple not many snakes on the tress liao. Normally snake show only for weekends but since we're VIPs, they gave a special session. haha.

Took a ride up the mountains. Wah, so much contruction for the new highway to replace the mountain trunk road. Pity us kana cook in the hot sun but hor, finally rewarded with multi-fruits at the Tropical Fruit Farm.

Evening went for the very expensive massage. Very good but the price could allow me 1 gf for 24hrs in Hatyai... ewwww.

Ended the day at the Red Garden Restaurant for dinner. Got satay, bbq chicken wings, Thai fried rice, etc. Also got live singing. The singers were wonderful (voice... not looks) too.

Tmr going back liao. May not stop at Malacca since got so many things to bring back.

Pictures will be ready when we're back.

Cya soon.

Have achieved my 1st 500KM on my Silverwing and have observed the following:

1. Average riding speed: 70kph

2. FC achieved: 22.8KM/L

3. 50% with pillon (total weight 125kg)

4. 60% city riding + 40% expressway

5. At about 3,800RPM, speed is 60KPH; 4,300RPM, speed is 70KPH.

6. Fuel mark indication corresponding to distance readings:

- 1st mark = 100km

- 2nd mark = 110km

- 3rd mark = 137km

- Mid mark = 168km

- 5th mark = 198km

- 6th mark = 230km

- 7th mark = 268km

- after 7th mark, the tank goes on reserve and fuel indication will blink

A few question though (if anyone care to comment):

a) Is the F/C usually poor during run-in?

b) What are the recommended speeds for run-in? I was told by the shop to do 80kph max for first 500KM.

c) What is the distance should I complete during the run-in? (was told by shop to do 1000KM) After running in the engine, can I start to go higher speeds? (OK - I really never do any run-in before).

d) The owner's manual indicated 1st oil change is 1000KM, but I was told by shop to do EO at 500KM (then do another 500KM @ 90kph - 100kph). Any advice on this?

Thanks in advance

My replies in red. Hope it is useful for you.

a) Is the F/C usually poor during run-in?

Yes, applies for almost all bikes and cars. It should normally improve after run-in

b) What are the recommended speeds for run-in? I was told by the shop to do 80kph max for first 500KM.

I think the manual did state? My personal belief and knowledge is a function of RPM. Try not to go high RPMs and arupt pick up and stopping will suffice. I dun think anyone do this our his brand new love right?

c) What is the distance should I complete during the run-in? (was told by shop to do 1000KM) After running in the engine, can I start to go higher speeds? (OK - I really never do any run-in before).

This one again subjective - my personal belief is at least 2 oil changes.

I would change the oil immediately if in your shoes. Afterall, your bike was manufactured at least a year ago and so is the engine oil exposed to oxygen. Just any cheap mineral oil will do. Castrol Actif is only $8 per can inclusive labour at most shops.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the answers :)

I thot I better ask because manual only state change EO after 1st-1000KM. Did not state recommended speeds for run-in. Anyway, I have been accelerating gradually - no Blip.

Gosh - I did not realize that mfg'er would put in EO... And i've been riding the 1st 500KM on "old" oil!!! :(

I guess I'd better observe the 2-EO-change approach. Another friend of my also recommended 2 EO change.

My 2 cents worth of replies...

A few question though (if anyone care to comment):

a) Is the F/C usually poor during run-in?

Correct

b) What are the recommended speeds for run-in? I was told by the shop to do 80kph max for first 500KM.

Not to exceed 5k rpm for 1st 500km can liao. That's 90km/h.

After that just gradual increase the speed.

c) What is the distance should I complete during the run-in? (was told by shop to do 1000KM) After running in the engine, can I start to go higher speeds? (OK - I really never do any run-in before).

Completion can be 1k, 1.5k or 2k... depends on individual. Think I did mine at 1.5k but found that the bike only got very smooth after 2.5k.

d) The owner's manual indicated 1st oil change is 1000KM, but I was told by shop to do EO at 500KM (then do another 500KM @ 90kph - 100kph). Any advice on this?

EO and oil filter very important. I kiasu changed mine at 0km (normal EO), 30km, 100km, 500km, 1000km and 1500km (fully synthetic). The usual 6k-8k replacement after that.
