I thot I better ask because manual only state change EO after 1st-1000KM. Did not state recommended speeds for run-in. Anyway, I have been accelerating gradually - no Blip.

(a)

Gosh - I did not realize that mfg'er would put in EO... And i've been riding the 1st 500KM on "old" oil!!! :(

(b)

I guess I'd better observe the 2-EO-change approach. Another friend of my also recommended 2 EO change.

©

(a) when i bought my SW from looi's, i was told to run-in till 3k kms; to ride below 5k rpm and aviod fast accelerations. not an issue to me coz i usually ride around 5k+ rpm to/from work even after run-in, and i don't usually "takeoff".

(b) when we receive our "brand new" bike, its engine has already been left running on the factory's test bench for some stipulated hours before mounting onto bike; this is a usual procedure in the assembly process. one thing we don't know is whether the EO was drained before shipping from factory, but my guess is no.

© the old school mechs will always recommend using mineral oil instead of synthetics, they're cheap and serves the purpose better. running in is to allow the moving parts to gel with each other better over a controlled rub down process. synthetic oils may be too slippery to provide the desired friction between the kissing parts.

the modern school sometimes practices what we called a "hard break-in", a process that puts the engine through a short, highly stressful but controlled procedure.

Welcome back!

Thanks for the input... Yah - I'm still riding less than 5,000 RPM with gradual pick-up.

Would probably adopt using mineral or semi on the 1st EO change.

always use mineral. till u do your 1st oil change then u will see how much metal bits is in your engine. using a thinner oil is too slippery. thus not enough friction to sand down your block and pistons.

It has been about two weeks since I got this new ride and I’m updating the next observation after running-in up to 950KM in mileage. Ref to page 59 for the first report.

1. Average top-speed ridden: 80kph - 90kph (increased from 70kph)

2. FC achieved: 23.7KM/L (+1km/l)

3. 30% with pillon (total weight 125kg)

4. 40% city riding + 60% expressway

5. At about 5,00RPM, speed is about 95kph

Others:

(A) It is easier to bank the bike to the right than to the left e.g. you do a imaginary slalom. Anyone felt this as well?

(B) Did my 1st EO change (ok - I missed the 500km EO change). Changed EO + Oil Filter + Gear (Hub) oil @ Kallang Cycle. And yes, Ah Choong showed me the EO under light where I can see the shimmering of metal deposits. Top-up with Motul 3100 (15W50).

Had my exhaust "re-aligned" - it was tilted outwards a bit and slanted when I first collected the bike from shop. Thanks to BigCow for highlighting this aspect.

Nice and friendly mech. Met another SW rider by nick of Babu who rides a JDM with sports-shield.

Before and after re-aligning the exhaust:

© Did a distance calculation between SG customs to GP and back:

Sgp customs to Mys customs = 5.4KM

Mys customs to GP northbound = 2.7KM

GP northbound to 312C exit = 4.3KM

312C to GP southbound = 7KM

GP southbound to Sgp customs = 5.7KM

Total distance looping Tuas check point = 25.1KM

Chaochao, your exhaust looks much better now..

How come so titled out initially?

Not sure how come like that - it was probably due to the way the exhaust was installed by dealers after shipment.
