hello burgman riders!

I just got myself a 250k3 burgy.

this is my very first scooter. so i'm totally new to its mechanics.

I got some questions thats worrrying me.

My burgy is crusing at 7000 rpm. is that normal?

7K rpm at what speed ?

usually i'll be near or more 100km/h at at rpm.

for 250 burgy, 7k rpm should be 100km/h. usually scooter cruise speed is just before your engine start to hoarse. For hoarse, it mean you gradually throttle till you hear your engine change to a rougher sound. Just anything before can consider as cruise.

Used Dunlop, Michelin & Bridgestone tyres for my B650. So far, no issues with me on this and I do cover quite a bit of tarmac to be able to use all the above 3 brands within the time I had my B650. And as long as this 3 brands are available locally, I'll happily get them for my own use.

So far, Dunlop are the cheapest. Abt $120 front & $168 rear - whether you can get this price will depend on your contacts and relationship with the shops.

Michelin front and rear I managed to get for $320 incl of balancing & labour for replacement. Again same caveat as above.

Bridgestone - don't ask me for the price cos I also dunno. Last I heard was around the range of Michelin.

Anyway, mine is an old beat up Burgman 650 that has covered 92000km at last count. Happy with the current available tyres so no point hankering for something else. :goodluck:

Wow... U got a good price for the Dunlop cos recently I call them they quote me $139 front & 187 rear. Shld I take the mezeler one?

Up to your personal preference. But think about this, are you gonna get just one set? i.e. 1 front and 1 rear. Cos the the rear wear out twice as fast as the front. So when the time comes are you able to get the same brand of tyre cos the stability of the tyre will be affected if both are of different brand - especially in the wet. Even if you get 1 front and 2 rear, if your front got a puncture that cannot be patch up or warp out of shape or uneven wear. How? :faint:

My preference is for something that's readily available and I'll ordered from the shop at least 2/3 months before due for change.(unless puncture)

Your choice... :p

The last dunlop rear I used was about 6 months ago. So price wise I'm not sure what's current. Basically, if a shop charges you $200 plus installation and balancing, I think that's fair.

Compare to 4/5 years back, the gravel road definitely improve alot. But many SG riders don't encounter this kind of terrain before.

use 2 different brands for the front & rear? on dry roads, no prob. but wat if on the wets, the grovves designed to cut the water would be different. might cause accidents to happen.

Wow bro, I jilat liao, my front is bridgestone and rear is dunlop, I tot it was ok to install 2 different brand. (I only know that for 4-wheelers, the right and left tryes must be the same brand, but it is ok to have the front 2 wheels and the rear 2 wheels of different brand, so I tot 2-wheeler also the same).

People ask me, "Why ride bike?" I ask them back :"Why drive car?"

I was in the same boat as you are now, front bridgestone back dunlop. Nothing happen to my scooter, ride the same as before changing. Maybe I dont corner fast enough. On straight road I dont feel any different.

Now both tires same brand, bridgestone. Handling still the same or is that just me?

Yay! Got my Burg-y fixed, turned out it was a short-circuited Throttle Position Sensor that caused the problem!

at the distributor, the rear cost abt $195 w GST. as your rear is quite troublesome to change, this price is actually quite ok ba. but got short cut to open your rear. provided he knows how to do it.

Ard $150 for the sensor.... think it's quite reasonable bah! But most importantly finally found the cause of the problem.... no more mystery!

Hmm, when you compare the 400cc scooters (Honda Silverwing, Yamaha Majesty, Suzuki Burgman) I think the servicing and parts costs are quite comparable.
